About this file

This document is an Attachment VI specification for Specialty Tires for Pick-Up Trucks, targeting municipal fleet procurement, specifically for refuse/sanitation and extreme service vehicle tires. The specification requires Tier I Premium Tires, with a strong preference for Goodyear/Dunlop brand tires, focusing on high-performance tires designed for on/off highway use and aggressive terrain conditions. The document mandates specific tire characteristics including radial and tubeless design, optimized tread compound, full width protector ply, minimum three steel belt construction, rectangular/rounded bead structure, side wall wear indicators, and curb guards.

The specification sets strict quality and safety standards, requiring tires with a load index rating above "100", a minimum 10-ply rating, and all-terrain (AT/S) classification. Vendors must demonstrate tire quality and safety performance, with the city reserving the right to reject tires that do not meet comprehensive technical requirements. Notably, the specification emphasizes safety as a primary concern, particularly for vehicle handling and performance, and requires pre-approval for any tire alternatives to the preferred Goodyear Wrangler model. Suppliers may be required to submit proof of tire specifications and compliance, with potential bid rejection if line items are left blank or specifications are not met.
