About this file
The document is an Attachment O Tactile Reference Package for a wayside exhibit at Fort Moultrie National Historical Park. The tactile exhibit specifications require a raised, textured representation of Fort Moultrie as it appeared in the 1880s, with specific design requirements including raised-lettering, braille labels, a legend, scale, and north indicator. The tactile object must match visitors' perspective based on the exhibit location and securely attach to the exhibit base through a graphic panel. The document includes visual examples of similar tactile objects demonstrating various textures and labeling techniques, with detailed illustrations of Fort Moultrie's layout and architectural features from different perspectives.
The reference package provides design guidance for creating an accessible, historically accurate tactile exhibit that will allow visitors to understand the fort's layout and architectural elements through touch. The specifications indicate that specific labeled features will be finalized during a site visit or proposal phase, suggesting flexibility in the final design details while maintaining strict requirements for historical accuracy, accessibility, and physical integration with the exhibit space.

Building a Revolution
In 1777, Morristown was a village of about 70 buildings and 250 people. It was the biggest town in the county.
The town clustered around the Morristown Green where there were Presbyterian and Baptist churches.
There was a country courthouse, which was also used as a jail.
It was in a safe place for Washington’s Army to stay, located in the hills far was from British strongholds in New York and New Brunswick. It became the location of a military hospital, supply depots, and a provost jail. Parts of Washington’s army spent four different winters camping in or near Morristown.
General Washington used
Arnold’s Tavern as his headquarters in 1777.

“Morristown is a rather pretty little town, in an elevated and very agreeable situation.
It is almost the center of the State of the Jerseys, and its location on the principal lines of communication favors its trade.” -French officer, 1781
