About this file

This is a Principal Place of Business Statement form issued by the School Board of Sarasota County, Florida in connection with Bid #26-0158 for Safety & Security Systems Services, Parts, and Consumables. The form requires all bidders to identify their principal place of business location and state. Bidders with a principal place of business within Florida must complete only the basic identification section and return the form with their bid response. The School Board intends to establish a firm percentage discount off current MSRP for security systems, services, and parts for use at various school-owned and operated locations for a one-year period, along with fixed pricing for individual consumable products and bi-annual service inspections of gate systems. Additionally, the procurement seeks to establish hourly rates for installation, service, repair, and maintenance of security systems and gate systems.

Any contractor bidding on installation, repair, and/or maintenance of security alarm systems or access control systems must be licensed by the State of Florida as either a registered Electrical Contractor—Class EF (Alarm System Contractor I) or Class EG (Alarm System Contractor II). Out-of-state bidders whose principal place of business is located outside Florida are required to submit a written legal opinion from an attorney licensed in their home state addressing whether that state or any of its political subdivisions grant bidding preferences to in-state business entities. This legal opinion must accompany the bid response, and failure to comply will render the bid non-responsive.
