About this file

This is a Local Preference Program attachment document from the City of Long Beach outlining eligibility criteria and certification requirements for local businesses seeking preferential consideration in competitive solicitations.

The City of Long Beach grants five extra credit percentage points to all businesses that maintain their principal place of business within city limits and possess a current City of Long Beach business license and sellers permit, if applicable. An additional five percentage points are awarded to local businesses operating from brick and mortar or non-residential commercial locations, providing eligible firms up to ten total preference points. To claim local preference, businesses must certify their eligibility by selecting "yes" on the form and submit copies of their current business license and sellers permit showing a place of business within the city limits. Applicants must also specify whether their licensed location is a brick and mortar/commercial/non-residential location or a residential location and provide the associated business address.

Failure to complete this section results in ineligibility for preference consideration. The attachment requires applicant certification through signature with associated name and date fields, and bidders must explicitly confirm their local business status rather than leaving the eligibility section blank. Documentation of licensing and permit status is mandatory for all businesses claiming preference points.
