Local Preference Program - City of Long Beach

This is an attachment to a City of Long Beach solicitation document that outlines the local preference program for contract awards. The program provides credit adjustments to qualified bidders based on their business location and operational status within the city. A local business is defined as a company that maintains its principal place of business in a fixed location within Long Beach, possesses a current City of Long Beach business license, and holds a sellers permit if applicable. To claim local preference eligibility, businesses must request the preference in the attachment and provide copies of current business licenses and sellers permits as supporting documentation.

The local preference structure awards five extra credit percentage points to all local businesses, with an additional five percentage points available for local businesses operating from a brick and mortar or non-residential commercial location. Bidders must affirmatively certify their eligibility by selecting yes or no on the form and are required to complete all fields, including providing their business license number, sellers permit number, the address associated with their business license, and designation of whether the location is commercial or residential. Failure to properly complete this section or to submit required supporting documentation may result in forfeiture of local preference points.
