About this file
This attachment provides specifications and instructions for the printing and placement of International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) decals for the North Dakota Department of Transportation. The document outlines detailed application instructions that must be printed on the reverse side of each decal, including surface preparation requirements (clean, smooth, wax-free surfaces at moderate temperatures) and application techniques (peeling from paper backing by bending backward at the center and rubbing firmly). Each vehicle subject to IFTA regulations will be issued two fuel decals, with specific placement requirements: one decal on the lower rear exterior portion of the passenger side of the cab (or driver's side for buses) and the second decal on the opposite side of the vehicle. These decals must be displayed on power units traveling into IFTA member jurisdictions; failure to display the decals in the required locations may result in citations or the requirement to purchase a fuel trip permit.
The specification document does not contain pricing information, contract term details, set-asides, award dates, or response deadlines. Bidders are required to submit samples as part of their proposals for the printing of these IFTA decals. The project involves the production of decals with specific technical and placement requirements to ensure compliance with interstate fuel tax regulations and proper vehicle identification within IFTA member jurisdictions.

2. Peel decal from paper backing by bending backward at center and lifting the edge.
3. Position the decal on surface and rub firmly.
PLACEMENT OF DECALS
Each vehicle will be issued two (2) fuel decals. One decal must be placed on the lower rear exterior portion of the cab’s passenger side, or, in the case of buses, place the decal on the driver’s side. The other decal must be placed on the other side of the vehicle.
