4. Install new discharge piping: 1.5-inch pump discharge to 2-inch stainless steel piping, then transition to 3-inch force main.

D. Replace in-wet well copper discharge piping with wastewater-rated materials –

Contractor shall:

1. Remove the existing hard-piped copper discharge piping within the wet well and replace it with materials compatible with submersible wastewater pump applications.

2. Where rigid discharge piping is required, use 316 stainless steel drop pipe with flanged connections, in combination with a short flexible connector or rubber expansion joint at the pump discharge elbow.

3. Ensure the connections are durable, corrosion resistant, and compatible with the engineered pump station configurations.

E. Startup, Testing, Commissioning, and Documentation - Contractor shall:

1. Provide full startup, testing, and documentation.

1.2 BACKGROUND

A. The Seven Bays Marina is a concession-operated facility featuring houseboat rentals, small boat rentals, seasonal moorage, and a convenience store, along with The Grill at Seven Bays restaurant, which operates seasonally from May through September. Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area oversees visitor services through administration of a concession contract but retains responsibility for providing wastewater service.

B. The Seven Bays Marina LOSS serves wastewater generated by marina boat pump-out operations and by concession-operated facilities, including a convenience store and restaurant. Wastewater from the marina pump-out station is conveyed under pressure to a single manhole that also receives gravity flow from the convenience store and restaurant, which is equipped with a 1,000-gallon grease interceptor.

C. A centralized sewage lift station receives combined flows from this manhole. The lift station was originally designed with duplex submersible grinder pumps discharging through a 3-inch PVC force main to a series of septic tanks located upslope.

Documentation within the pump control panel indicates that the original pumps were replaced in kind in July 2019 with Sulzer type ABS Piranha PE45 submersible grinder pumps (208 V, 60 Hz, 6 HP). Replacement pumps shall be equal or have same salient characteristics as existing pumps per attached manual.

D. The Seven Bays Marina large onsite sewage system (LOSS) was designed to collect, treat, and dispose of wastewater generated by marina operations, including houseboat pump-out activities and wastewater from concession-operated facilities such as the convenience store and restaurant. The system was designed for a permitted flow of 6,954 gallons per day and constructed in 1990, with subsequent equipment replacements performed in kind.

E. Based on information documented in the Operations and Maintenance Manual, the original lift station pump operating point was approximately 79 gallons per minute against a total dynamic head of approximately 104 feet. This head requirement reflects conveyance through a 3-inch-diameter force main extending approximately 950 linear feet from the lift station to the septic tanks, with an elevation gain of roughly 97 feet.
