About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document for Solicitation 140P8326Q0033 regarding Seven Bays Lift Station Repairs at Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area, Amendment 0004.

The document addresses four clarifying questions submitted by potential contractors. Key technical details confirm that the 1990 design values of 79 GPM at 104' TDH remain relevant for the project. Regarding monitoring and control systems, the park intends to tie into its existing monitoring/notification system for this project; remote monitoring and pump control options will be considered in a larger construction project planned for the following year. Public WiFi is available at the on-site Restaurant/Store during project execution. A significant design clarification addresses the float control system: the winter pump float shown on the proposed vault overview is not part of this project and should be eliminated from the plans. This feature was originally included to prevent sludge buildup due to limited winter use at the facility, but the owner has determined it should not be implemented in the current repair scope. All work must be performed within the existing wetwell structure.

Questions and Answers plus attached map/spec drawing

1. Are the 1990 design values of 79gpm @ 104' TDH still relevant? Yes, the 1990 design values of 79 GPM @ 104’ TDH are still relevant.

2. Would the owner be willing to consider options for remote monitoring, pump control and/or notification system? For this project, the park would like to tie into the existing monitoring / notification system. There is a larger construction project planned for next year that will move the current alarm monitoring system from inside of the building to near the lift station. An option for remote monitoring and pump control could be considered on next year’s project, but this project only includes tying into the existing system.

3. Is there wireless internet or cellular connectivity available for remote notification signal? The Concessionaire has public wifi available at the Restaurant/Store that can be used during the project.

4. 4) On the proposed vault overview, the second float on the tree is labeled as "winter pump on". Moving up the tree, floats 3 and 4 are labeled lead and lag pump on respectively. If this is a duplex system, can you please give some detail on the purpose of the winter pump (existing does not feature this), its location, and having a dedicated float for its operation? On the original design, there was an added circulatory pump for winter operations as there is very limited use in the winter months at Seven Bays. The tank has previously seen a build-up of sludge due to the pumps not getting kicked on with the normal float elevation. This lower, winter float, is not part of this project and should be eliminated from the plans.
