About this file

The document is a Spanish-language scoring and interpretation guide for the TCU Drug Screen 5 (Prueba de drogas 5 de la TCU), developed by the Institute of Behavioral Research at Texas Christian University (TCU). The guide provides detailed instructions for scoring the drug screening tool, which generates a total score ranging from 0 to 11 points based on responses to specific questions about substance use and related symptoms.

The scoring methodology assigns points for affirmative responses to questions, with the total score used to classify the severity of substance use disorder according to DSM-5 criteria: 2-3 points indicate a mild disorder, 4-5 points indicate a moderate disorder, and 6 or more points indicate a severe disorder. The document notes that psychometric data is currently being collected to establish the test's properties. The guide is intended for personal, educational, research, and informational purposes, with specific copyright restrictions on commercial use and redistribution. Contact information for further information is provided for Kevin Knight, Ph.D. at the TCU Institute of Behavioral Research.
