PROBLEM STATEMENT:
Up to 6” of storm water ponding in rear of BLDG 729 is reported as a hazard for users when walking from POV’s to doors/ramps entering the building – see blue ellipses below. The parking lot relies on sheet flow to Suwannee Rd. for all drainage. Future Zone 4 work will address some lacking drainage but does not improve or add any conveyance to the subject BLDG 729 area.
PROJECT INTENT:
The goal of this project is to assure adequate drainage from the B729 parking lot onto Suwannee Road where it will then sheet flow NE and SW into new Zone 4 drain inlets and infrastructure.
To assure this drainage, additional fall will be required.
LEGACY:
BLDG 729 interior has been recently remodeled, the addition of an exercise area and volleyball court (sandbox) which both have a concrete curbs preventing any sheet flow from parking lot rear toward HWY 98 and the previously used retention pond(s), permeable area was further reduced by the exercise area which is rubberized mat over concrete and is covered by a blue tent/roof. The original parking lot appears to have been crowned and provided drainage around the building (left/right) to Suwannee Rd. Over time it appears there has been some settlement and erosion which further contribute to the ponding problem. Survey data is very limited, design docs from the previous remodel are dated in 2017, elevation of that drawing is nearly one foot different from current LIDAR data available to me via the GOVT GIS system – that LIDAR data is used for the purpose of this evaluation and report. Elevation datum/data used for Zone 4 appears to be 1’ above lidar datum, compatibility will be confirmed prior to any improvements.
NOTES:
Limits of roadway construction (Zone 4) might minimize the area and scope of this project but should be ignored for quantity takeoffs used for this bid. Contractors should be encouraged to bring survey equipment to the pre-bid site walk.
