About this file

This document outlines proposed requirements and capabilities for the OneSAF modeling and simulation software. It describes five proposed requirement implementation bundles (RIBs) focused on degraded positioning navigation and timing, high-resolution air defense radar, improved connectivity with the COBWEBS system, a new long range precision munition, and operational environment concurrency for Chinese entities. The RIBs propose approaches to incorporate related capabilities from other modeling systems, enhance user interfaces, configure new equipment models, and define surrogate data for foreign systems. The related federal contract opportunity is a pre-solicitation notice for OneSAF software support from the Department of the Army Contracting Command Orlando Contracting Center, but no further details are provided on required products, response timelines, or award information.

OneSAF v12.0 RIB / Use Cases

RIB1: Degraded Operaons MDO

APPROACH

• Limit informaon available to the operator when in a PNT degraded environment – all locaons are perceived locaons. Enes will display their perceived locaons where-ever the grid-locaon is displayed. Locaons on map will remain correct relave to terrain.

• Update Move Taccally or provide equivalent behavior to use perceived locaon to determine how well a unit can get to a desired locaon. This might be a more limited behavior than move taccally.

• Group movement allows use of best navigaon capability. e.g. if a vehicle has working GPS or someone in the group has beter manual navigaon (local guide, etc) they get the advantage of that for movement.

ASSUMPTIONS

• Primary operator interface support with be in the web-based Control tool. MCT update if possible.

• Interface to control and interact with OneSAF has limited ability to degrade known locaon

• No change made to the locaon inputs for behaviors

CAPABILITIES PROVIDED

• Operator interface with perceived locaon informaon

• Degraded movement behavior for PNT degraded environments

RIB2: High-Resoluon Air Defense Radar

APPROACH

• Pull in necessary radar enhancements from SECore to support mulple radar modes for radar (acquision, tracking, etc). This may include model, behavior, agent and GUI updates

• Verify that the radar modes are supported in the Damage Effects Server for aircra survivability (mode effects what the radar warning receiver does)

• Should work over Bifrost and HLA/MATREX

ASSUMPTIONS

• SECore AD radar modes match with SFF radar

• This will require some CM/KE to further define

• Radar fidelity level will be configurable if necessary – may not always want High-Res

• GUI Updates will be made in Control

CAPABILITIES PROVIDED

• Higher fidelity Air Defense radar supporng mulple modes

• GUI updates

• Behavior/agent updates to control modes

• Tie in to SFF models where possible

• Damage Effects server correctly takes radar into account for countermeasures

RIB3: COBWEBS Improvement

• Perform UX analysis on exisng UI’s displaying data exchanged between OneSAF and COBWebS

• Create new admin-level user interfaces to show connecon status and indicaons of raw data received via interface

• Provide capability to inialize STEP interface during exercises and to recover from crashes

• Provide capability to manually set interface parameters

• Analyze and make usability enhancements to OneSAF interface to CyberBOSS

ASSUMPTIONS

• Improvements will be focused on exisng STEP interface

• Enhancements will be done in both OneSAF and COBWebS

• Focus is on enhancing usability of exisng funconality rather than on adding new funconality

• Interface must be implemented in such a way that COBWebS and OneSAF are not ghtly coupled

• CyberBOSS handover is integrated to OneSAF 11.0

• No changes will be made to CyberBOSS as part of this effort – only to the OneSAF interface

CAPABILITIES PROVIDED

• Improved User Interfaces for connecons between OneSAF and COBWebS via STEP interface

• Ability to inialize STEP interface between OneSAF and COBWebS during exercise

• Ability to inialize STEP interface between OneSAF and COBWebS based on user sengs rather than only on properes defined prior to startup

• Improved OneSAF interface to CyberBOSS

RIB4: Long Range Precision Munion

• Reuse the MPERM as inial capability

• Compose new munion with different physical parameters then the MPERM

• Add the munion to specific aircra. Update the aviaon weapon models to fire the munion

• Specific aircras and weapons to be defined by AMBL

• Ability for the munion to damage light armored vehicles

• Work with DAC to define and incorporate required performance data for the munion

ASSUMPTIONS

• AMBL reviewed the PKAD for the Mul-Purpose Extended Range Munion (MPERM) and stated this provides inial capabilies

• Needed is the ability to fire the munion from aircra

• Need addional data for the munion

CAPABILITIES PROVIDED

• New LRPM munion composion, capability of being fired from specific ground plaorms and aircra

• Updated performance data for the munion

• Ability to damage light armored vehicles as targets

• Test scenario and thread

RIB5: OPFOR Concurrency: Operaonal Environment Concurrency (Chinese Enes)

• Add Enty Composions

ASSUMPTIONS

• All data will be surrogated

CAPABILITIES PROVIDED

• Enty composions for

• AFT-10 Red Arrow An-Tank Guided Missile Carrier

• CSK-131 (Dongfeng CSK131) 4X4 Light Taccal Vehicle

• PF-98 (Type 98) Chinese 120mm An-Tank Rocket

• ZBD-03 (WZ-506) Chinese Airborne Infantry Fighng Vehicle (IFV)

• ZBD-04A Chinese Amphibious Infantry Fighng Vehicle (IFV)

• ZBL-09 (Type 9) Chinese 8X8 Amphibious Armored Personnel Carrier

• ZTD-05 (VN-16) Chinese Amphibious Light Tank

• ZTD-05 (VN-18) Chinese Amphibious Infantry Fighng Vehicle (IFV)

• ZTL-11 (Type 11) Chinese 8X8 Armored Fighng Vehicle (AFV)

• Type 96 (ZTZ-96) Chinese Main Batle Tank (MBT)
