About this file

This document is a Group Policy Amendment No. 1 to a standard disability insurance policy issued by Standard Insurance Company to the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners. The amendment, effective January 1, 2022, modifies the Short-Term Disability (STD) benefits provisions under Group Policy 760741-A for Long Term & Short Term Disability Insurance and Term Life coverage in Florida. The amendment specifically revises the limitations section regarding paid sick leave or other salary continuation benefits.

The amendment clarifies that no STD benefits will be paid for any period during which an employee is receiving or is eligible to receive paid sick leave or other salary continuation from their employer, with the exception of vacation pay or donated amounts. This modification establishes a coordination of benefits approach, ensuring that employees do not receive duplicate payments from both employer-provided salary continuation and the STD insurance policy during periods of disability-related leave.
