About this file

These specifications detail the roof renovation project for the Fall River Ranger District Shop in Hot Springs, South Dakota. The project involves completely removing existing shingles and underlayment down to the wood sheathing, with careful inspection for damage or rot. Contractors must use metallic-coated steel sheet panels with a brown color (subject to Contracting Officer's Representative approval), 22-gauge minimum thickness, with a tapered-rib profile and UL 580 Class 90 uplift rating. Key installation requirements include using self-tapping stainless steel fasteners, providing metal closures at peaks and edges, and ensuring weathertight installation with proper flashing, sealants, and underlayment.

The specifications cover multiple technical sections including accident prevention, demolition and removal, barriers, metal roof panels, flashing, and gutters/downspouts. Material specifications are precise, calling for galvanized sheet steel with specific gauges and performance standards. Installation guidelines are comprehensive, addressing everything from safety protocols to specific mounting techniques, expansion joints, and water infiltration prevention. Contractors must follow OSHA safety regulations, conduct weekly safety meetings, and provide extensive documentation, with the understanding that any damaged materials must be reported to and approved by the Contracting Officer before proceeding with replacement.
