GraphicsJosh B34GL-04-01-100Lot's of negative space above Ike's head. Looks weird. Maybe move him up and fade out the flag at the top if necessary. // Is the colon necessary. It's gramatically correct, but it looks strange.Adjust layout to reduce dead space above head and awkward positioning of DDE in general - his head is at chest/waist height for the average visitor. Adjust headline to be more compelling and carry the weight that this is the start of a major section. update per approved visual direction in Revised Style Intent document (RSID), tbd.
GraphicsJosh B41GL-05-01-100 THRU 200My eyes are focusing on Bring People and not the Together part of this panel. Maybe it's the color variation?1) simplify headline to two expressive techniques (currently has three typesizes and two colors), or per approved visual direction in Revised Design Intent document, tbd. 2) Move GL-05-01-100 left and down to fall outside of "brick". 3) Move GL-05-01-200 left so as to not be blocked by items on TV.
GraphicsJosh B54GL-06-03-250Suggested change: In larger font, "As President, Eisenhower…" and move Navigates a Changing World Order to its own line with the orginal text sizeCascading subheads on GL-06-03-250 don't read well and are visually cluttering. Consider revising so that the set-up on the panel reads: "As President, Eisenhower: Navigates a changing world order, Overhauls the Nation's highway system..." and so forth. And/or update per approved visual direction in Revised Style Intent document (RSID), tbd.
GraphicsJosh B58GL-07-01-100 THRU 200Too much negative space below the picture - General comment: Make questions bigger and uniform across the board. Perhaps lines above and below them to set them off as separate.Awkward layout, fix dead space below photo, And/or update per approved visual direction in Revised Design Intent document, tbd.Make questions bigger and uniform across the board.
GraphicsJosh BAllAllGraphic layouts could be more visually appealing. This feel like 1998. Also, recognizing that colors don't always pop on the screen, these colors need to be richer and brighter.Across the board, the panel designs needs refinement.Richer and brighter colors
GraphicsJosh BAllAllWhat happened to the five stars to top the exhibits? Maybe they could be a 3D element on the left corner of the corresponding exhibits and have the titles bigger and bolder.Sheet G58: as an example for instances throughout, the 3-stars graphic should be 5-stars. Additionally, it might be a good element to make dimensional, budget depending. Consider in updates in Revised Style Intent document (RSID), tbd.
GraphicsJosh BG22GL-02-02-100Move up the headline to be closer to the top.Panel is not working visually. Give more emphasis to "Curator's Corner" to read more like an area. And/or update per approved visual direction in Revised Style Intent document (RSID), tbd.
GraphicsJosh BG22GL-02-02-150Is life on the farm supposed to be on display with the Moaney exhibit or is it its own piece? If not, maybe place some of the images in GL-02-02-100 (right) there with captions and use some of MSgt Moaney's quotes about Ike on the other side, with a blue background mirroring the left.NPS would like to discuss options to rework this panel. The intent of the panel is to be the default panel when there is no temporary exhibit.
GraphicsJosh BG38GL-04-01-200Timeline is very cluttered. Consider breaking it into decades and present something more graphically appealing. Bubbles for each decade to use up more of the space on the panel. Also, enarge the size of the panel so its evenly spaced between the fake wall and the window. The timeline is far too dense for the designated space. Rework in new location, NPS recommends the transitional hallway between reception and the main exhibits, replacing the Life Magazine covers.
GraphicsDanG4Green should match the exterior of the building/bank barnDan, would like more clarity on this. Not sure that a visitor will make the association, and it's a pretty desaturated color to add to this palette.
GraphicsDanG-12CE-01-02-157Title should be Eisenhower National Historic Site. This map shows both farms, and only one of them was technically owned by Ike. Also, the name of the site is Eisenhower NHS, not Eisenhower Farm. Longstanding misnomer that farm is in the name of the official site. If we are showing the modern site, including the RC, let's use the name of the siteChange title to "Eisenhower National Historic Site"
GraphicsDanG20GL-02-02-100I am confused about the layout of the curators corner. Why is the Life of the Farm panel jammed in the middle of the Moaney exhibit? Why not have "Curator's Corner" above the exhibit, so we don't have to use space on the panel for the words?NPS would like to discuss options to imporove this panel system content. The intent of the Curator Corner is that it provides a space for changing/temporary exhibits, yet is to have an option that appears "permanent" when there is no temporary exhibit. The content on the Moaneys is the first temporary exhibit, part of the original contract. "Life on the Farm" was intended to be the "permanent" display panel, however, it is not conveying correctly.
GraphicsDanG27CE-02-0-250Same comment re using Eisenhower Farm versus Eisenhower NHS on the you are here map on the reader rail.Change title to "Eisenhower National Historic Site"
GraphicsDanG32GL-03-01-100-200Why are the Time magazine covers in random order? Why not have them chronologically? Why not have a small blurb of text next to each one since there will be ample wall space?Recommending the timeline be reworked to occupy the area currently held by the magazine covers.
GraphicsDanG34GL-04-01-100Image of Ike here appears odd, as he is appearing hips up, but coming up from the floor, meaning he will be at waist level for many visitors as the drawing suggests.See comment 12
GraphicsDanG36GL-04-01-200Timeline panel should be rethought. This is an absolute mess. The events appear out of order. The events are also too close together, too much text for each one, and the world events stop at the Korean War in 1950. This gives me a headache and heartburn at the same time. Why no world events when Ike is president? Why no world events after Ike is president? Why not turn this into another touch screen, where visitors can select a decade to see what was going on for Ike and Mamie and what was going on in the world at the same time? Could replace the TV around the corner...Rethink timeline, and relocate to hallway to replace magazine covers.
GraphicsDanG41Entire page of contentCould we put the timeline here instead of having the historic TV? Would be a better fit chronologically.Timeline to go in hallway, keep TV vignette.
GraphicsDanG45GL-05-02-100Please change the 3 star graphic to 5 star logo as we had previously requested. Using 3 stars instead of 5 is just an obvious miss, especially when we specifically pointed it out over a year ago. Additionally, why are some graphics blue background and then the rest red?Change 3-star graphic to 5-star. In Revised Style Intent document (RSID), tbd., please evaluate the effectiveness of this blue/red panel color system.
GraphicsDanG51The entire photo opWe told them last time this was not a good picture. It's blurry, you can hardly tell who is in it, and if we are going to go with a world leader image, please use one with someone who is at least recognizable. The quote next to the photo op is not the greatest, either. Josh has found countless leadership quotes that would be a better fit here. Would rather replace this photo op at this point with something entirely different. A replica of Ike's desk, some stationery, small bookcase with items kids can handle. Them using the same picture we asked them not to use does not give me much faith.NPS would like to lose the Photo-Op, and replace with another option. NPS has considered using the States wallpaper from the house as a possible replacement, where visitors could look for their homestate in the design.
GraphicsDanG61Both panelsWhy does one panel have red as a background color and the next have blue. This is bothersome. Is there a purpose to it? If we can't discern the purpose then will visitors? In the Revised Design Intent Document, please assess whether this red/blue panel system is working, and incorporate any potential revision in the RSID.
GraphicsDanG65Lasting Legacy of Leadership panelThis I really like. However, please use the original photo and do not photoshop a fake background in as was done at the spotlight exhibit at the MVC. Perhaps do something different with the weird red star popping out from behind Ike.Please assess awkward rotating/reveal panels as they seem spaced far apart and aren't randomly placed enough to look intentional.
GraphicsDanG68Perhaps raise the text so that when the discs swing up they don't cover the main text on the panelDan, I agree with the sentiment here, but realistically might not be able to avoid that depending on the swing of the cover panels. Will provide the direction, tho.Again, panel could use compositional improvements for image location , interaction and readability
DrawingsMike FD03The drawings on this page show the interpretive panel and bulletin board switched around from what is shown earlier in the drawings. In all other instances, the tactile is on the left and the bulletin board is on the right. On this specific page, view 1 is wrong, inconsistent with the other details on the page. Please correct to show tactil on the left and bulletin board on the right.
ADrawingsMike FD05.1When the panels are pulled forward to create a shallow exhibit case, what keeps the panels in that position?I will request this detail.Shallow case mechanisms need to be identified in next phases
DrawingsMike FD05.1How will the exhibit case doors be locked?Case door locking mechanisms need to be identified in the next phases
DrawingsMike FD05.2Will the drawers below the exhibit case be secured so visitors cannot open them?Add a locking mechanism to the drawer(s)
DrawingsMike FD11The placement of the framed photos and bust of Lincoln as shown differ from how they are arranged on the real TV in the house.Mike P confirm with park intended directionBust of Lincoln is wrong.
GraphicsMike FG4Color PaletteUsing "Eisenhower Green" would be more appropriate than the shades of green shown here. Alas, it may be a moot point since this graphics layout doesn't show the color green being used anywhere.Mike PF/park please provide a specific name, ID, or physical sample of this green.Park has interest in including Eisenhower green in the layouts. Please consider when developing the RSID.
GraphicsMike FG20 through G22It looks like the photos and text for the panel to cover the exhibit case when not in use and the temporary exhibit about the Moaneys are morphed together here!!! No illustration of the full panel to cover the case is provided.Mike F, the panels on G20-22 only show the temporary Moaneys exhibit. That said, it is confusing because they provided views showing both the deep case option AND the shallow case option. (Neither shows the panel that will be used to cover the case where there is no temporary exhibit. Moving forward I think the design approach for temporary exhibits should be "either-or" -- either it plans to be a deep case, OR, it plans to be a shallow case -- as is, they are showig the Moaney exhibit both ways, which is unnecessary and confusing. Please see my recommendation, right:This case needs further clarification and refinement. There are three functions for this corner case: 1) provide a deep corner space for a changing/temporary exhibit, that can house graphic panels on the left side, back, and right side, with a depth and height that is suitable for display of objects; 2) Provide a shallow space for grpahic panels for a changing/temporary exhibit that does not have to display dimensional objects; 3) provide a graphic panel that covers the glass doors when there is no temporary exhibit. The current drawings show hinged panels that create a shallower "back wall" when transitioning from state 1 to state 2. Not sure if this is overkill. Would like to discuss this case in detail with the contractor.
GraphicsMike FG20 and G22GL-02-02-100The "Curator's Corner" title would be better placed above the case as a permanent feature and not located within the case. It would need to be covered by the optional panel when the case is not in use. We could consider not having a title, but I think that having it may help to explain to visitors why there are no museum objects in the other exhibits and help to convey that it's a temporary exhibit case.Final title for this case should be placed above the glass doors.
GraphicsMike FG20 through G22GL-02-02-100The graphics for the temporary exhibit about the Moaneys does not leave room for the objects. The suitcase is large and would block one's view of the graphics when installed! The steak markers would likely need to be mounted on one of the graphic panels and there is no space set aside for that.Refine Moaney graphics to accommodate objects.
GraphicsMike FG31Family TreeThe grandchildren are not presented in birth order.Reorder grandchildren in familiy tree to be presented in birth order.
GraphicsMike FG31Family TreeI'd prefer a four-digit year for Icky's death so that it matches the format of the others better.Change to 4-digit year
GraphicsMike FG44GL-05-03-100Why does the color switch to red on this panel? Up to this point everything has been consistent with blue, which I suggest using throughout. Please evaluate use of color backgrounds when developing the RDID.
GraphicsMike FG48GL-06-01-200It looks strange to have one photo extending to the edge of the panel while none of the other photos are that way. Please evaluate compositional elements and consistency standards when developing the RSID. The blocky photo layout is boring, the panels need more dynamic layouts. Also, the continuing thought as sub headlines does not read easily and poses potential accessibility issues -- as a sighted visitor you make the association that they are continuing thoughts but this will need to be equitable for those using assistive devices. It's unnecessary -- please reword subheads to be unique statements, not a continuing thought.
GraphicsMike FG51GL-06-02-200With the helicopter cropped out of this photo, it looses its appeal. The men look as if they're wandering in a field. It also looks blurry. There must be a better photo that can be used in its place. This photo opp is likely being removed from the exhibits. Hold on locating new imagery until final direction is confirmed for any replacment of this scene.
GraphicsMike FG54GL-06-03-250On the map, the Soviet Union looks orange. It should be red, of course.1) change the soviet union on the map to be red instead of orange. 2) again, the continuing thought approach does not work for the subheads. It is visually cluttering, and will present accessibility challenges.
GraphicsMike FG65Background PhotoI find the large red star distracting. I don't care for the stars floating at the top either. Just using the original photo for the full backround would be better.Large red star containing instruction for the reveal panel is a bit overkill for what it accomplishes. Stars faded into the top right feel like an afterthought. rotating reveal discs are not placed randomly enough to appear intentional. Please consider these when developing updated graphics conventions in the RSID.
GraphicsMike Fn/aWallpaperI provided Formations with a sample of the reproduction "The United States" wallpaper that we have available. I'm disappointed that they have not proposed its use anywhere in their design.Consider using the wallpaper in the replacement for a tactile moment (find your state) / photo opp
ComprehensiveJana9LA-01-02-103Park has a 36" plotter. Please provide a template for the full, changeable space in as well as the 8.5 x 11 template.Ensure that all templates can be produced on a 36" plotter printer
ComprehensiveJana12IM-01-2-153I don't know that the panoramic image adds much to the wayside. This panoramic is not the view from where the wayside will be located. A panoramic view from the where the wayside will be located would not add anything to the wayside, nor would it be interesting.Replace this image.
ComprehensiveJana19EE-02-01-250The subtext is for the replica tv, not the bright sign player
ComprehensiveJana20IM-02-01-301I like the portrait
ComprehensiveJana40IM-02--03-225DO NOT use the drawings of the Farm 2 Bank Barn. The Eisenhowers did not own that barn. Also it burned in 1993.Do not use drawing of Farm 2 Bank Barn, it burned and no longer exists.
ComprehensiveJana50LA-04-01-000The introductory panel introduces the theme as " a belief in serving one’s country; the ability to persevere in the face of adversity; and faith in the power of informed citizenship;" however, scene 5 focuses more on the farm than it does any of these themes. It might work better to remove the "sunporch" vignette (lose the tv and faux brick wall) and rework the content of visiting leaders into the service section.Per review of Comprehensive plan comments, we will keep the sunporch TV vignette
ComprehensiveJana52LA-04-01-201Could the timeline be digital instead of print? It would allow it to be more interactive.Keep timeline as static panels, move to and expand within hallway
ComprehensiveMike Fn/an/aThe Moaneys will be covered well in this exhibit. However, there were other staff that lived in the home. Rose Woods merits some attention, I think. I understand that Sgt. Dry used the third floor studio as a bedroom for a period. Should he be mentioned?Relevant comments are in the Comprehensive document.

Timeline in Scene 04 is too compressed. Move to and expand this content into the hallway area, replacing the large magazine covers. Current direction is to use static panels, not digital media.
The cover panel for the changing gallery case needs to be redeveloped. The changing gallery needs clarificaiton on the mechanical elements and locking mechanisms.
The photo opp (section 06-02) never really worked, delete hinged wall and photo-opp moment. Move section 06-03 panels (north wall) to right of windows in Section 06 to alleviate crowding in corner of Section 07.
Intro Panel, Scene 04, no longer needs to be hinged.
With the removal of the hinged photo opp panel, and relocation of scene 06-03 panels, consider a high-impact solution for the back (north) wall. One solution is to consider an are that uses the 50-states wallpaper from the house, as a tactile "find your state" moment. NPS is open to other solutions from the contractor.
