Attachment no. 2 – Scope of Work (6/30/22)

SCOPE OF WORK

RELIEF TOPO MAP MODEL FABRICATION-INSTALLATION

MOUNT RAINIER NATIONAL PARK

At 14,410’ in elevation, Mount Rainier is the tallest volcano in the Cascade Range. This icon of Washington state and can be seen on the horizon for hundreds of miles in any direction. Annually, almost two million people flock to this centerpiece of Mount Rainier

National Park to explore its natural and cultural history.

1. BACKGROUND

Some of the most popular exhibits in Mount Rainier National Park are the relief maps located in several visitor facilities around the park. Visitors get a 3D view of the park and the mountain. They use the maps to follow the trails they hike or are about to hike, find a specific location on the map, and even touch the top of Mount Rainier itself.

While the maps are an excellent learning opportunity, they do not fully meet the needs of all visitors. To that end, a design for an accessible relief map and related components was developed in 2019 as part of the new Ohanapecosh Visitor Center exhibits. It was decided to use this plan to create three additional maps to replace the remainder of the relief maps in the park. These maps are located in the Longmire Wilderness Information

Center, Jackson Visitor Center at Paradise, and the Sunrise Visitor Center. This project does not include the Ohanapecosh Visitor Center relief map.

These buildings are either historic buildings, or as in the case of the Jackson Visitor

Center, a new building built to reflect the National Park Service rustic architecture of the

National Historic Landmark District in which it is located.

2. PURPOSE

The purpose of this project is to fabricate and install three relief map models, three brass models, and supporting content and structures based on the attached plans. Installation is in the Longmire Wilderness Information Center, the Henry M. Jackson Visitor Center at
