Attachment 9 – Questions and Answers Round 2 (8/8/22)

Produce, Deliver, Install Topo Relief Maps, MORA

The following are additional questions/answers to supplement the Statement of Work in the solicitation, and in some cases may provide some different information than what is stated in the Statement of Work. Where there are differences, quoters shall make pen and ink changes in those sections in the Statement of Work with the information provided in this additional round of Q and A.

NOTE: Questions 1 through 15 are provided in solicitation Attachment no. 8 which was posted as part of Amendment 01.

QUESTION 16: Attachment 3 01.03.2 has "Brass Map Symbols" such as "Paradise" and it says "Embedded" Does that mean the symbols are raised?

ANSWER: The statement says Brass Map Symbols:

Embed following location markers in map:

• Paradise

• Longmire

• Ohanapecosh

• Tipsoo Lake

• Sunrise

• Carbon River

• Mowich Lake

These would not be separate tiles or items with the symbol place on top of the map surface, but the symbol would be embedded into the map. The symbol itself should be tactile or raised from the area around it.

QUESTION 17: I was looking through the requirements for this project and nowhere did it say that wood could or could not be the material for the larger topographic map (even though polycarbonate plastic was listed as the most common material for 3D terrain display maps). I confirmed wood is a viable material in Attachment D, section 14.3.A.4, but I wanted to check with you that hardwoods locally and sustainably harvested per US Sustainable Forestry Initiative would be considered as the main material for this project? Our 3D wood topographic maps are always finished with a protective treatment because our carvings are meant to be touched.

ANSWER: Wood is not an option.

QUESTION 18: If you are willing to consider a large wood 3D map to complement the smaller brass model, please let me know and I'll go ahead and complete the full application. I would also greatly appreciate a quick phone call with you this week--if you are available--so I could run a few smaller questions by you!

ANSWER: NPS is willing to accept a fiberglass casting.
