About this file
This is an Environmental Policy document issued by the Miami-Dade Aviation Department (MDAD) that establishes the agency's commitment to environmental stewardship across all operations at Miami International Airport. The policy outlines MDAD's goal to provide efficient aviation services while maintaining the highest environmental quality standards for air, soil, and water resources. The department has established six core objectives to guide its environmental management: continuous awareness of community environmental concerns with prompt incident response; implementation of best management practices integrated with environmental management systems; restoration of environmental conditions at airport facilities; pollution prevention through waste reduction and resource conservation; establishment of environmental objectives and programs through strategic planning and audits; and regulatory compliance exceeding all applicable Federal, State, and Local environmental regulations. MDAD employees are directed to report environmental concerns to the Airport Operations Center at 305-876-0385 or to their supervisors for appropriate action.
The policy emphasizes tenant and contractor compliance by requiring MDAD to collaborate with tenants, suppliers, and contractors to ensure adoption of sound environmental management practices consistent with the department's standards. The document reflects MDAD's vision of environmental leadership and sustainable development, incorporating environmental, social, and economic factors into business planning and decision-making processes. This policy serves as the foundational framework for the agency's full-service HVAC chillers contract, which requires contractors to preserve all HVAC systems and associated auxiliary and water treatment equipment in optimal operating condition while meeting Original Equipment Manufacturer standards and complying with all applicable Federal, State, and Local Laws and Environmental Regulations.
