About this file

This document is Attachment 2 (Historical Information/Representative Tasks and Projects) that provides details about systems and projects previously accomplished through the 502 TDS. The document includes a table showing historical contract values for various contractors including Booz Allen Hamilton, J.F. Taylor Inc., MES Simulation & Training Corp, and Applied Visual Technology Inc., with total obligations under TD2 of $103,179,513.31.

The document outlines six major systems that may require contractor support: Visual (providing graphical representations for mission simulations), Image Generation (creating computer-graphics images), Control Loading (providing realistic flight control forces), Aural (generating aircraft and environmental sounds), Input/Output (facilitating communication between systems), and Host (primary operating system managing multiple users and applications). These systems represent the types of projects developed by 502 TDS but are noted as non-exhaustive examples.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION / REPRESENTATIVE TASKS AND PROJECTS

The following are representative of the types of tasks and projects that have been accomplished through the 502 TDS:

Systems

The following are representative of the major systems that could make up the types of projects developed by the 502 TDS that may require support from the Contractor. This is not an exhaustive list, nor is it final.

Visual

The visual system shall provide graphical representation simulating various missions, related scenarios, models and/or conditions to the user.

Image Generation

The image generation system shall create images from an image concept projected on screens. The image shall be created with computer-graphics software.

Control Loading

The control loading system shall provide realistic flight control forces in simulation or training devices.

Aural

The aural system shall generate aircraft and environmental sounds to enhance the realism experienced by crew/trainee. The sounds are ultimately a subjective experience, and therefore, flexibility and tune-ability are key in considering system selections.

Input/Output

The input/output system shall provide the instructions necessary to communicate to all systems which make up the overall IT simulation/training system.

Host

The host system is the primary operating system installed on a computer to deal with computer resources in various ways, ultimately allowing the various system applications handled by multiple users to function simultaneously.
