About this file
This is a deliverables specification document for a manufacturer providing custom-built standard lift equipment. The document outlines comprehensive requirements for designing and documenting lifting systems capable of transporting spent nuclear fuel elements from NIST's National Bureau of Standards Reactor to the Department of Energy's Savannah River Site.
The manufacturer must provide detailed payload information including descriptions with 2D drawings or 3D models, payload weight, center of gravity location, number and description of engineered lift points, and engineering calculations supporting a safety factor of 4 or higher or compliance with ASME B30.20 standards with professional engineer certification. The document requires the manufacturer to submit a complete rigging plan specifying all lifting hardware (slings, wire rope, chain, shackles, hoist rings, spreader bars, lifting beams) with minimum working load limits, material specifications, and part numbers. Additionally, the manufacturer must provide documentation of miscellaneous hardware, any special or custom rigging apparatus with supporting photographs and engineering drawings, and a comprehensive rigging schematic with CAD images or detailed sketches. The manufacturer must also verify payload stability by confirming no loose items exist within the payload and address multiple payload configurations if applicable, providing separate documentation for each configuration.

Deliverables from Manufacturer for Standard Lifts - Custom Built
1. Is the payload meant to be lifted in one or more configurations? (If the answer is more than one, provide information for sections 2-3 for all possible configurations)
2. Payload Information
a. Description of the payload supported with 2D drawings and/or 3D model when possible
b. Weight of payload
c. Location of the center of gravity.
d. Number of engineered lift points
e. Description of engineered lift points. Include material, thread size, thread pitch
i. Lift points shall be above the payload’s center of gravity
f. Engineering calculations shall support a safety factor of 4 or higher or designed to meet or exceed ASME B30.20.
i. Provide supporting documentation (calculations)
g. 2.f. may be superseded by designing to ASME B30.20 and providing PE stamp supporting the design.
h. Stability of payload. There shall be no lose items within the payload.
3. Rigging: Some items below (3a through 3c) may not apply to every lift. However, manufacturer shall provide information which satisfies a complete rigging plan using 3a through 3c as guidelines.
a. List all the lifting hardware to be used (slings, shackles, spreader bar, lifting beam)
i. Slings, wire rope or chain to be used (minimum length, material, minimum WLL):
ii. Shackles and/or hoist rings to be used (material, pin thickness, minimum WLL, manufacturer part # (if applicable):
iii. If applicable, Identify all other rigging hardware to be used as well as minimum WLL:
b. Miscellaneous hardware used:
c. Special or custom rigging apparatus:
i. List of supporting photo(s), engineering drawings, CAD images, sketches of rigging:
d. Rigging Schematic. Provide photo(s), engineering drawings, CAD images, or sketches of rigging:
