About this file
This is a Determination and Findings (D&F) memorandum for a single-source acquisition under RFO Part 13 authorizing the US Air Force to solicit from Crestron for a multi-source routing control panel at Eaker Center Facilities, Maxwell AFB, Alabama.
The acquisition is justified based on brand-name compatibility requirements. Eaker Center established Crestron as its enterprise audiovisual control platform in April 2023 and has since implemented Crestron-based solutions across multiple buildings, classrooms, conference rooms, and training environments. Procuring from a different manufacturer would create compatibility and interoperability challenges, compromise seamless integration with existing audiovisual infrastructure, increase implementation risk, elevate operator training requirements, and expand technical support demands. Continued use of Crestron equipment ensures streamlined troubleshooting, unified system architecture, and leverages existing staff expertise and established support processes.
Market research was conducted August 5-14, 2026, through the SBA Dynamic Small Business Search website using NAICS code 334310 for audio-visual equipment. Twelve small businesses were identified and contacted; five small businesses responded confirming capability and interest to satisfy the requirement. The Contracting Officer determined that the circumstances make only one source reasonably available, justifying single-source acquisition authority under RFO 13.101(b). The Purchase Request Number is F1ATA26208A001. The D&F was signed by Contracting Officer Thompson Lachandra on September 2, 2026, and is not subject to expiration as it applies to an individual contract action.
