About this file
This is a Statement of Work for the installation of a wet fire suppression system at Building 6418 of the Mexican Fruit Fly Rearing Facility (MFFRF) located at Moore Air Base in Edinburg, Texas. The facility, which produces 160 million sterile flies weekly to support the Rio Grande Valley's Mexican fruit fly eradication program, requires a retrofitted fire suppression system due to a recent fire in the larval rooms. The MFFRF was originally constructed in the early 1980s without fire suppression capability, and this system is needed to address the expanded operations.
The contractor must deliver a complete turnkey project including design and as-built drawings, underground fire line installation with tap, pressure independent valve (PIV), and above-ground backflow preventer with testing certification, and an automatic sprinkler system with canopy protection and flex drop installations. All work must comply with NFPA Standards for design densities, EPA requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local codes and regulations in Texas. The contractor is responsible for obtaining all necessary permits, removing and disposing of construction debris, and providing a one-year warranty on all labor and equipment commencing from substantial completion. Work is restricted to Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM at this restricted military facility, with any work outside these hours requiring prior written approval from the Facilities Maintenance Manager. All contractor personnel must possess valid picture identification, and the contractor must provide temporary restroom facilities for employees if the project duration exceeds three working days.
