About this file
The document is a detailed procedure guide for importing official vehicles into Vietnam for the American Embassy, specifying comprehensive requirements for vehicle importation. The guide outlines mandatory general information to be collected about vehicles, including make/model/color, manufacturing year, vehicle identification number, country of manufacture, engine specifications, and fuel type. Critical required documentation is specified for both pre-shipment and post-customs clearance stages, with specific emphasis on original bills of lading, shipping invoices, vehicle registration documents, emission certificates, and quality certifications.
The document provides specific technical requirements for automobile importation into Vietnam, including strict age restrictions (vehicles cannot be more than five years older than arrival year), mandatory emission standards compliance (EURO 5 for new vehicles, EURO 4 for used vehicles), and prohibited vehicle modifications. Key restrictions include no right-hand drive vehicles, no structural modifications altering original specifications, and no disassembled vehicles. Additional technical requirements include precise emissions measurements for both petrol and diesel vehicles, with specific gram-per-kilometer thresholds for various pollutants. The document is part of a solicitation for six ambulance motor vehicles for the U.S. Embassy in Hanoi, Vietnam, indicating a specific procurement context for these detailed importation guidelines.
