About this file

This document is a specification for procurement of a solid state disintegrator device to meet National Security Agency (NSA)/Central Security Service (CSS) requirements for sanitization of classified solid state storage devices.

The contractor must supply and install one (1) solid state disintegrator that meets specific essential salient characteristics. The device must feature simple push-button operation with automatic overload sensing and jam reversal capability, automatic bin-full sensor, easily replaceable destruction components, and acoustic output of 85dB or less. The disintegrator must incorporate a self-contained three-stage air filtration system (pre, carbon, and HEPA filters), a lockable main power switch with emergency safety button, and operate on 200-240V, single-phase, 50/60 Hz, 6-amp power (three-phase operation is prohibited due to power constraints). Physical requirements include a maximum footprint of 32"W x 45"D x 52"H, weight not exceeding 1,300 lbs, and castor wheels for mobility. The device must be manufactured in the United States per Executive Order 14005 and capable of shredding solid state drives from intact desktop computers and laptops without dismantling, as well as card storage devices including SIM cards, EMV cards, credit cards, and magnetic strip cards. The contractor must also provide installation and ensure full functionality, supply twelve (12) disposable disintegrator bags, one (1) extra set of castor wheels or feet, and necessary cleaning tools for maintenance.
