About this file
The document is an informational handout about the REAL ID Act requirements for identification at Shaw Air Force Base. It provides comprehensive guidance on acceptable forms of identification for base access, detailing specific requirements for driver's licenses, state-issued IDs, and alternative forms of federal and state identification. The handout emphasizes that all states and territories are currently REAL ID compliant or have extensions until May 7, 2025, and lists multiple acceptable identification types, including passports, military IDs, permanent resident cards, and tribal photo IDs.
The document outlines specific criteria for identification, noting that driver's licenses or IDs with certain restrictive language (such as "Not Valid for Federal Identification") are not standalone acceptable forms of ID. The acceptable identification must either meet REAL ID standards or come from a list of federally-issued, state-issued, or other recognized identification documents. This guidance is crucial for individuals seeking access to Shaw Air Force Base, ensuring compliance with federal identification standards and maintaining base security protocols.
