AMENDMENT 3

AMENDMENT 2

MILITARY SPECIFICATION
PRESSURE CARTRIDGE ASSEMBLY LOADING,
ASSEMBLING AND PACKING
This amendment forms a part of MIL-P-70668 (AR), dated 6 October 1987, and is approved for use by the U.S. Army Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center, and is available for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense.
2.1.1, Delete “MIL-STD-129 - Marking for shipment and storage.”
2.1.3, Delete in its entirety.
3.5.1, Line 4: Delete “4.5.4.1” and substitute “4.5.5.1”.
3.5.2, Delete in its entirety and substitute the following:
“3.5.2 Velocity. The pressure cartridge (Dwg. 9366511) when assembled to a M88 configuration canister shall produce enough energy in the canister to launch the mines at 60 feet per second exit velocity (min.) (measured on the first mine) at all temperatures when tested in accordance with 4.5.5.2.”
3.5.3, Delete in its entirety and substitute the following:
“3.5.3 Force. The pressure cartridge (9366511) when assembled to a M88 configuration canister shall produce force no greater then 6500 lbs-f (Max.) when tested in accordance with 4.5.5.2.”

Table I, sheet 2 of 2: Under Cartridge Case Assembly with Primer:
Delete “Primer Sensitivity 25-0-1 3.4.1 4.5.4.1” and substitute “Primer Sensitivity with sealant 25-0-1 3.5.1 4.5.5.1.”
Pressure Cartridge Assembly, Delete in its entirety and substitute the following:
“Pressure Cartridge Assembly 20 (Dwg. 9366511) Examination for defects 20-0-REFER 1/ 3.2 4.4.2.2 Functioning Force/Velocity Hot 10-0-REFER 1/ 3.5.2/3.5.3
4.5.5.2 Cold 10-0-REFER 1/ 3.5.3/3.5.3
4.5.5.2”
Add new note;
1/ Refer to technical agency AMSTA-AR-QAA-B for disposition.
4.4.2, Line 4 to Line 5: Delete “, switching, by A.Q.L.”
4.4.2.1, Delete “Primer sensitivity Improper” and substitute “Primer sensitivity with sealant.”
4.4.2.4, Delete Major 103, 104, 106 and 107.
Add 108 as follows:
“108 Functioning/Force/Velocity Hot 10-0-1 3.5.2/3.5.3 4.5.5.2 Cold 10-0-1 3.5.2/3.5.3 4.5.5.2”
4.5.2, Delete “MIL-STD-286, Method 101.3.2” and substitute “MIL-STD-286B, Method 102.1.3”.
4.5.3, Delete “MIL-STD-286, Method 101.3.2” and substitute “MIL-P-223B, Para. 4.4.3 (Oven Method).
4.5.4.1, Delete in its entirety and substitute:
“4.5.4.1 High temperature function. M88 configuration canisters with pressure cartridges shall be conditioned at 140+5 oF for 4 hours minimum after reaching required temperature and shall be tested in accordance 4.5.5.2.”
4.5.4.2, Delete in its entirety and substitute:
“4.5.4.2 Low temperature function. M88 configuration canister with pressure cartridge shall be conditioned at -30- 5oF for 4 hours minimum after reaching required temperature and shall be tested in accordance with 4.5.5.2.”
4.5.5.2, Delete in its entirety and substitute the following:
“4.5.5.2 Force/Velocity function. The pressure cartridge when assembled into the M88 canister and tested at hot and cold shall meet the requirements of 3.5.2 and 3.5.3.”
Delete page in its entirety.
Delete section 5 in its entirety and substitute the following:
“5. PACKAGING
5.1 Packaging.
5.1.1 Level A. Not applicable.
5.1.2 Level B. Not applicable.
5.1.3 Level C. Level C packaging shall be in accordance
with Dwg. 12902743.
5.2 Packing.
5.2.1 Level A. Not applicable.
5.2.2 Level B. Not applicable.
5.2.3 Level C. Level C packing shall be in accordance with
Dwg. 12902744.
5.3 Marking.
5.3.1 Level A. Not applicable.
5.3.2 Level B. Not applicable.
5.3.3 Level C. Level C marking shall be in accordance with
Dwg. 12902743 and 12902744.
The margins of this amendment are marked with an asterisk or vertical lines to indicate where changes (additions, modifications, corrections, deletions) from the previous amendment were made. This was done as a convenience only and the Government assumes no liability whatsoever for any inaccuracies in these notations. Bidders and contractors are cautioned to evaluate the requirements of this document based on the entire content irrespective of the marginal notations and relationship to the last previous amendment.
