AMENDMENT 2

SUPERSEDING
AMENDMENT 1
17 April 1989
MILITARY SPECIFICATION
PRESSURE CARTRIDGE ASSEMBLY LOADING,
ASSEMBLING AND PACKING
This amendment forms a part of Military Specification MIL-P-70668 (AR), dated 6 October 1987, and is approved for use within the US Army Armament, Munitions and Chemical Command, and is available for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense.
2.1.1, Delete "MIL-STD-129 - Marking for shipment and storage.”
2.1.3, Delete in its entirety.
3.5.1, Line 4: Delete “4.5.4.1” and substitute “4.5.5.1”.
* 3.5.2, Delete paragraph in its entirety and substitute new 3.5.2:
“3.5.2 Velocity. The pressure cartridge (Dwg. 9366511) when assembled to a M88 configuration canister shall produce enough energy in the canister to launch mines at 60 feet per second exit velocity (rein) (measured on the first mine) at all temperatures when bested in accordance with 4.5.5.2.”
* 3.5.3, Delete paragraph in its entirety and substitute new
3.5.3:
3.5.3 Force. The pressure cartridge (9366511) when
assembled to a M88 configuration canister shall produce force no greater. then 6500 lbs-f (MAX) when tested in accordance with 4.5.5.2.

* 4.5.4.2, Delete in its entirety and substitute:
“4.5.4.2 Low temperature function. M88 configuration canister with pressure cartridge shall be conditioned at -30-5°F for 4 hours minimum after reaching required temperature and shall be tested in accordance with 4.5.5.2.
* 4.5.5.2, Pressure/time values: Delete in its entirety and substitute:
“4.5 .5.2 Force/Velocity Function. The pressure cartridge when assembled into the M88 canister and tested at hot and cold shall meet the requirements of 3.5.2 and 3.5.3.
* Delete page in its entirety.
Delete section 5 in its entirety and substitute the following:
"5. PACKAGING
5.1 Packaging.
5.1.1 Level A. Not applicable.
5.1.2 Level B. Not applicable.
5.1.3 Level C. Level C packaging shall be in accordance
with Dwg. 12902743.
5.2 Packing.
5.2.1 Level A. Not applicable.
5.2.2 Level B. Not applicable.
5.2.3 Level C. Level C packing shall be in accordance
with Dwg. 12902744.
5.3 Marking.
5.3.1 Level A. Not applicable.
5.3.2 Level B. Not applicable.
5.3.3 Level C. Level C marking shall be in accordance
with Dwgs. 12902743 and 12902744.”
The margins of this amendment are marked with an asterisk or vertical lines to indicate where changes (additions, modifications, corrections, deletions) from the previous amendment were made. This was done as a convenience only, and the Government assumes no liability whatsoever for any inaccuracies in these notations. Bidders and contractors are cautioned to evaluate the requirements of this document based on the entire content irrespective of the marginal notations and relationship to the last previous amendment.
