About this file
This is a specification modification document for school intercom systems issued by Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) for the installation of voice-activated strobe lights in designated rooms to provide visual indication of page announcements. The project requires contractors to provide complete and fully functional systems including RDL page control relays, RDL power supplies, Hoffmann enclosures, Wheelock amber strobes, Wheelock surface boxes, and Wiremold raceways, along with associated cables and connectors. Contractors must submit product data, shop drawings including equipment details and wiring diagrams, and proof of installer qualifications demonstrating a manufacturer's authorized representative trained for the specific equipment being installed. Installation coordination with building functions and class schedules is required, with work scheduled outside school hours when possible.
Contractors must be established communications contractors with at least five years of locally operated business experience and must utilize duly authorized distributors for the equipment being modified. The specification designates specific certified dealer requirements: Rauland systems may only be modified by certified Rauland dealers, Dukane systems by certified Dukane dealers, and Telecor systems by Telecor dealers. Contractors must demonstrate evidence of a fully equipped service organization capable of providing adequate inspection and service to the systems. The manufacturer shall provide a one-year warranty against defects in material and workmanship, with the warranty period beginning on the date of owner acceptance. All materials and labor must be provided at no expense to the owner during normal working hours. All specifications are subject to change.
