About this file
This document is a construction specification for the Tepee Work Center Well Pump Replacement project at the Black Hills National Forest in South Dakota, prepared in March 2026.
The contractor must remove the existing 5 HP submersible well pump (Grundfos 10S50-48DS, installed in 2020 at 921 feet depth) and provide and install a new 5 HP submersible pump with controls. The work must be performed by a South Dakota licensed well driller or pump installer in accordance with South Dakota 46-6-9.2. The new pump specifications include 8 gpm minimum capacity, 870 psi discharge head, 1.25-inch discharge size, 230 volts single-phase, 60 Hz, 24 full-load amperes, and a 30-ampere minimum circuit capacity. The pump must comply with HI 2.1-2.2 and HI 2.3 standards with stainless steel impellers and a submersible motor capable of continuous underwater operation. Column pipe must be ASTM A53/A53M Schedule 40 galvanized steel with threaded couplings, and discharge piping must be ASTM D2239 PE pipe rated for at least 160 psig with NSF certification. All electrical work must comply with NFPA 70-2020 (NEC), NESC, and be performed by licensed electricians, using UL-listed materials. The project includes mobilization, demobilization, quality control testing, accident prevention and safety planning, operation and maintenance manuals, and as-built drawings. The work is awarded as a single lump-sum base item with payment upon completion. The pumphouse is 100 gross square feet, constructed in 1992, located at 10623 Tepee Work Center Loop, Edgemont, SD 57735, with an elevation of approximately 5,138 feet. Contractor must comply with all safety requirements, fire prevention measures, site cleanup, environmental protection, and maintain insurance and bonding as required. Substantial completion requires startup testing, full operability verification, final cleaning, and submission of project record documents before final payment authorization.
