About this file
This document is a detailed set of construction specification documents for the replacement of boilers at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center in Bronx, NY. The project involves comprehensive renovation and replacement of existing boiler systems, including thermal system insulation, piping, mechanical equipment, and associated infrastructure. The specifications cover multiple technical divisions including demolition, mechanical systems, electrical systems, and asbestos abatement.
Key project components include removing and disposing of approximately 1,200 linear feet of thermal system insulation from steam supply and return piping, replacing three boilers, removing asbestos-containing materials (estimated 1,500 square feet of flooring and 1,200 linear feet of piping insulation), and performing comprehensive system upgrades. The project will require full containment asbestos abatement, installation of new boilers, mechanical systems, electrical systems, and associated infrastructure modifications. The solicitation is issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs Technology Acquisition Center Austin, with bid documents dated June 17, 2025, and the project involves complex multi-phase construction with strict safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance requirements.
