About this file
This is a lead-based paint survey report from Acacia Environmental Management dated May 11, 1999, regarding Building 886 at Vandenberg AFB. The survey analyzed seven paint samples collected from the building's exterior on May 7, 1999.
Of the samples tested, five showed no detectable lead content (samples -01, -02, -03, -06, and -07). Sample -05 contained lead in the range of 50-999 mg/kg, requiring TCLP and Cal. W.E.T. protocol analysis before disposal. Sample -04 contained 2,330 mg/kg lead (0.23%), automatically classifying it as hazardous waste under RCRA and California state regulations. The report includes a building sketch showing sample locations and laboratory analysis reports from Micro Analytical Laboratories detailing the test results. Per OSHA regulations (29 CFR 1926.62), employers must protect workers from lead exposure when any detectable amount is present.

RE: LEAD-BASED PAINT SURVEY -BUILDING 886
Dear Mr. Crosby:
Acacia Environmental Management performed a survey of the exterior of the referenced facility on May 7, 1999 and a copy of the analytical report is attached for your reference and archiving.
Of the seven (7) paint samples collected and analyzed, five samples (I.D. No. -01, -02, -03, -06, and -07) no detectable amount of lead was analyzed to be present.
One sample (I.D. No. -05) was found to contain lead in the range of 50 to 999 mg/kg, and residual debris will need to subsequently be analyzed by TCLP and Cal. W.E.T. protocol to characterize the waste prior to disposal.
Sample No. -04 was analyzed to contain 1,000 or greater mg/kg lead, and residual waste automatically is characterized as "hazardous waste" by RCRA and the State of California.
OSHA regulations (29 CFR 1926.62) require an employer to protect his/ her employees form over exposure to lead, whenever a detectable amount of lead is analyzed to be present.
Sincerely, u'-- Dan Weathers, President
