Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS): A Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) term defining a Non-Developmental Item of supply that is both commercial and sold in substantial quantities in the common marketplace.

Modified Commercial Off-The-Shelf: COTS based but with program specific modification to functionality or input and output.

Computer Software Configuration Item (CSCI): An aggregation of software that satisfies an end use function and is designated for separate configuration management by the purchaser.

Government Unlimited Rights: “Unlimited Rights” means the rights of the Government to use, disclose, reproduce, prepare derivative works, distribute copies to the public, and perform publicly and display publicly, in any manner and for any purpose, and to have or permit others to do so.

Executive Software: Software that is common to all UUT types and provides the operator interfaces, calibration routines, diagnostics, data acquisition and control functions used by the Test Program Set (TPS) software.

Unit Under Test (UUT): Term used to refer to a product undergoing testing

Unit Under Test Software: Test software that is specific to a UUT type.

Software Assurance: The level of confidence that software is free from vulnerabilities, either intentionally designed into the software or accidentally inserted at any time during its lifecycle, and that the software functions in the intended manner.
