About this file

This document is an amendment to a solicitation (Competition No. 325-327) issued by the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission (State Parks) for the fabrication and delivery of a replacement moorage float for the MV Thunderbird vessel at Deception Pass State Park. The amendment addresses questions received from potential bidders, including clarifying that Canadian Welding Bureau certification will be accepted for AWS welding certification, and that State Parks would consider a pontoon-style float design only if it meets the project's other criteria and requirements. The solicitation seeks a qualified fabricator/contractor to design, fabricate, and deliver the replacement float, with delivery to occur at the Deception Pass State Park, Cornet Bay Marine Crew Pier.

Regarding pricing and other terms, the amendment indicates that State Parks considers steel necessary for the structural support of the float due to permitting requirements, and that the decking must be grated, ruling out some alternative materials proposed by potential bidders. The solicitation covers multiple counties within the state of Washington, and the successful contractor will be required to construct the float using readily available equipment commonly used in the marine industry.

- -Previous Questions and Answers- -

Question: We manufacture marine grade aluminum framed floating docks with closed cell foam incapsulated in hand welded HDPE plastic and decked with Wolf PVC, would you consider us an approved equal?
