Where they are not definitely located, this information shall be obtained from the
COR.
B. The Contractor shall examine the drawings and thoroughly familiarize himself with conditions and space into which the work must be installed. Any areas of concern must be identified in writing to the COR within five (5) working days prior to the bid date.
C. Ignorance of work performed by other trades or conditions arising during the progress of the project shall not be considered as a basis for relieving the Contractor on a claim of not being able to properly estimate the entire cost of the work, nor shall it constitute grounds for non-performance of any portion of the work.
MOMA 0204.17 11/02/07 15010-5
D. The Contractor shall follow drawings in laying out work and coordinate with the drawings of other trades to verify spaces in which work will be installed. Contractor shall maintain maximum headroom and space conditions at all points. Where headroom or space conditions appear inadequate, the Contractor shall notify the COR and shall not proceed with this work until he has received instructions.
E. The Contractor shall base all measurements, both horizontal and vertical, from established bench marks. All work shall agree with these established lines and levels. Verify all measurements at site and check correctness of same as related to the work. Should the Contractor discover any discrepancy between actual measurements and those indicated which prevents following good practice or the intent of the Contract Documents, he shall notify the COR, and shall not proceed with this portion of the work until after he has received instructions.
F. All dimensions shown for duct sizes are net clear inside dimensions. Allowances shall be made for lined ductwork.
1.11 SPECIFICATIONS

1.13 COST BREAKDOWN
A. The Contractor shall provide any cost breakdown that the COR may require for his accounting procedures.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.1 COORDINATION
A. The products of particular manufacturers have been used as the basis of design in preparation of these documents. Any modifications to the mechanical systems and their components, the electrical systems, the building structure and CORure, or any other portion of the building that result from the use of any other than the basis of design equipment shall be coordinated with all other trades. Such coordination shall occur before delivery of products from the manufacturer (before shop drawing submittals) and shall be clearly indicated on the shop drawings. All related modifications shall be borne by the Contractor and performed without any additional cost to the Contract.
B. The Contractor shall include in his work the leaving of openings in the building roof, floors and walls for supply, return and exhaust air ducts and piping unless noted otherwise or specified
MOMA 0204.17 11/02/07 15010-6
herein. It shall be the Contractor’s responsibility to ensure that all openings are left in the floors and partitions for the proper operation of the system and that all openings are in the correct locations.
C. Coordinate requirements of various components of the heating, ventilating and air conditioning system; fire protection system; and plumbing systems specified herein. Supervise interconnection and adjustment of these components so as to obtain a complete and functional system.
D. Coordinate work of this Division, including space requirements, with the work of other Divisions.
E. Work of this Division shall be carried on simultaneously with the work of other trades in a manner such as not to delay the overall progress of the work.
F. Materials and equipment shall fit into the space designated as indicated on the drawings without having to alter the building structure or any portion of the work to accommodate the installation.
1. Should space conditions be found to be inadequate, Contractor shall notify the COR and shall not proceed with this work until he has received instructions.
G. Contractor shall not install any portion of the work until he has properly coordinated with all other trades to ensure proper clearance and fit as required for the installation of his work. Any material and/or equipment installed prior to coordination found to be in conflict with other trades shall be removed and/or corrected by the Contractor at his expense.
H. Contractor shall coordinate all interfaces and connections with work specified in Division 15 and other sections. Contractor shall be aware of the requirements of these other Divisions and his responsibility at the interfaces and connections.
I. The electrical conduit and wiring for the motors, controllers, interlocks control devices and controls are specified in Division 16, unless otherwise specified.
2.2 EQUIPMENT, MATERIALS AND BID BASIS
A. It is the intention of these Specifications to indicate a standard of quality for all material and equipment incorporated in this work. Manufacturer’s names are used to designate the item of equipment or material as a means of establishing grade and quality. Where three or more manufacturers are named, only these manufacturers’ products will be considered and the Contractor’s bid shall be based on their products. Other named manufacturers, although acceptable as manufacturers, must prove their product will perform satisfactorily and will meet space requirements, and shall obtain pre-approval of their equipment, before submitting shop drawings.
B. In the event only one manufacturer is named, manufacturers of similar quality products will be considered unless the Specifications state otherwise. Such unnamed manufacturer’s products will, however, be considered as substitutions and shall not be used as a basis for bidding. In the event the Contractor wishes to submit substitutions to the COR for review prior to bid, he shall furnish descriptive catalog material, test data, and samples, as well as any other pertinent data necessary to demonstrate that the proposed substitutions are acceptable equals to the specified product. No substitutions shall be made without the written consent of the COR. No substitutions will be allowed after the project bid.
C. The use of one named manufacturer in the schedules on the Drawings is for guide purposes. The provisions of the previous paragraph will govern in the selection of products to be used.
2.3 SUBSTITUTIONS
A. Contractor shall list and identify all products, material and/or items other than those specified and/or shown on drawings, provided the substitution equals or exceeds the criteria for the item
MOMA 0204.17 11/02/07 15010-7
specified or shown on the drawings. Contractor shall assume responsibility for the installation of substitution so as not to make any portion of the work to be rendered inaccessible per manufacturer’s recommendations. Contractor shall also assume responsibility to make certain that proposed substitution shall fit into space provided without altering, damaging, or having to demolish any portion of the work.
B. Prior approval is required where bidding Contractor intends to furnish a product other than those named in the specifications, or on the drawings, where product manufacturers are named.
C. Bidding Contractor shall submit request for prior approval in writing. Prior approval submittal shall contain listing of substitute item proposed for installation, specification section reference, proposed manufacturer, deviation (if any) from specified item, and any changes necessary to fit substituted item into the work. Failure to comply with the above shall be considered due cause for rejection.
D. Requests for prior approvals must be received no later than ten (10) working days prior to bid date.
E. Contractor shall not purchase any material and/or equipment prior to receiving verification of compliance with engineering design concept from COR. Any substitutions the Contractor wishes to propose in lieu of materials and/or equipment indicated in the contract documents shall be reviewed by the COR. Any material and/or equipment purchased and/or installed prior to the written confirmation of the review and approval by the COR found to be in non-compliance with the contract documents shall be corrected as instructed by the COR without any addition to the contract price.
