Amendment 0006 – Questions and Answers
Q1.) Can you please look at the comments below and provide us with a clarification? This would be for
Alternate #3. The spec references recess rails in D-1 and then they refer to Surface Mounted Tracks in section 3.1. We need to know which style of tracks to include in the quote.
A1.) 105626 Mobile Storage Shelving, 2.4 Systems & Components, D. Tracks, 1. Mounting, REVISE to read: "1. Mounting: Mount track system to existing concrete floors and provide manufacturer's standard raised plywood carriage platform; recess rails in raised platform such that top of rails are flush with floor finish of raised carriage platform.
"2. Low Profile Entrance Ramp: Manufacturer's standard ABA/ADA compliant ramp, to allow access to all high density storage aisles."
Q2.) The dimensions of the system in the drawing are not specific enough to provide a quote. I have assumed that the carriages are to be 24” x 84” (they refer to 25” spacing but that makes me think that the
25” includes the space between carriages.
A2.) 105626 Mobile Storage Shelving, 2.4 Systems & Components, E. Carriages: REVISE to read:
"E. Carriages: Double-loaded (front and back ends of carriage allow for storage). Rigid frames consisting of C-shaped cold-formed steel beams and cross beams, designed to allow secure anchorage of shelving units. All carriages to be moveable. All final carriage dimensions and quantities to be field verified and based on existing conditions to allow for the clear floor space(s) indicated on Drawings within each room.
"1. Carriage Width: 24-1/4" (dimension on A6.5 of 25" includes the space between carriages).
"2. Carriage Length, for bidding purposes only, assume the following carriage lengths and quantities in each respective room:
"a. High Density Storage 012: Provide seven (7) count double-loaded carriages;
each double-loaded carriage to be 7'-8 1/2" long.
"b. High Density Storage 018: Provide (11) count double-loaded carriages, each double-loaded carriage to be 6'-9 1/2" long.
"c. High Density Storage 019: Provide ten (10) count double-loaded carriages, each double-loaded carriage to be 6'-9 1/2" long.
"d. High Density Storage 030: Provide seven (7) count double-loaded carriages;
each double-loaded carriage to be 7'-8 1/2" long.
"3. Carriage Height: Assume a standard carriage size of 5'-10"+/- tall, with a maximum height of 6'-0" above the finished floor.
"4. Carriage Aisle, between carriages in the fully open and locked position: 42" clear, minimum.
"5. Wheels: Manufacturer's standard number of bearing-mounted, steel wheels, precision ground to mate with tracks.
"6. Bumpers: Provide two rubber bumpers with minimum depth of 1/2 inch each side.
"7. Safety: Mechanical Metal Sweep Plate:
"a. Stops carriage movement by depressing metal sweep plate.
"b. Run continuous entire length of carriage in each aisle."
105626 Mobile Storage Shelving, 2.4 Systems & Components, F. Anti-Tip Brackets: ADD the following text: "Track and anti-tip protection to meet all local, state, and national seismic requirements."

Q3.) The shelving height appears to be determined by the maximum height allowed (6’ or 72”) this would require that the max shelving height be set at 64”.The number of shelves is in question; the sketch provided shows (5) openings yet the spec indicates (3) Adjustable Shelves and (1) fixed Shelf.
A3.) 105626 Mobile Storage Shelving, 2.6 Shelving, A. Shelving Units, 7. Shelf Styles, a.
Flat: CLARIFICATION - The bottom-most shelf is considered fixed, thus, in addition to the bottom-most fixed shelf, provide (3) three adjustable shelves and one (1) fixed shelf for a total of five (5) shelves. Refer to 16/A6.5 for typical shelf heights and arrangement.
