About this file
This document is a Request for Quotation (RFQ) - Addendum #1 issued by the School Board of Volusia County, Florida, for Sound System Equipment & Installation (Solicitation #RFQ-2025-9028). The solicitation seeks to procure sound system components including three Middle Atlantic BRK28-22 Laminate Cabinets, one Gator G Tour 10x12 PU Rolling Rack, sixteen wireless microphone systems, and an Allen and Heath sound console with 48 channels. The RFQ is scheduled to open on February 11, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. EST, with no site visit currently scheduled, though the school principal is willing to accommodate potential bidder site visits if requested.
The addendum provides clarification on equipment specifications, installation locations, and system configuration. The sound system appears to be an expansion of an existing setup, with the new equipment intended to connect to current line-level inputs and utilize existing speakers. The procurement contact is Kent Rossi, Supervisor of Procurement, who can be reached at kjrossij@volusia.k12.fl.us or 386-734-7190 Ext. 20383. The addendum includes three supplementary images showing the current sound equipment location, potential cabinet placement, and a view of the back of the cafeteria/multipurpose room where the sound console will be positioned for production conditions.

SOLICITATION OPENING DATE & TIME:

NOTE: SOLICITATIONS RECEIVED AFTER THE DUE DATE AND TIME WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
The original Request for Quotation (RFQ) documents shall remain in full force and effect, except as modified herein, which shall take precedence over any contrary provisions in the prior documents. The original RFQ submittal deadline date, shall remain the same, on February 11, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. EST.
The following questions have been received, and the answers to each question are below.
1. Q. Do you have drawings or pictures of the space where the equipment is to be installed?
A. Yes, see attached picture “1sound” is where the cabinet which houses wireless microphone receivers and speaker power will live on the wall. This is also the normal living location of the rolling rack which will house the sound console.
Picture “2sound” is the preferred location for the existing cabinet to be removed from the wall where the new cabinet will be installed. Picture “3sound” is the preferred location in the back of the cafeteria/multipurpose room where the sound console will plug in to a D-Snake for production conditions so that the sound can be operated from the back of the room.
2. Q. Is there a site visit scheduled for potential bidders?
A. Not at this time, however, Principal (Mrs. Hopkins) has indicated they can schedule site visits, if desired.
3. Q. Four (4) Cabinets/Racks were identified in the RFQ. These include three (3) Middle Atlantic BRK28-22 Laminate Cabinets (Item No. 9) and one (1) Gator G Tour 10x12 PU Rolling Rack (Item No. 11). A number of Rack Mounted components are identified including Wireless Microphone Systems, Active Antenna Splitters, Rack Mount Power Conditioners, Drawer, Mixer and Remote Audio Rack. Please clarify the components associated with each rack in order to identify configuration for quoting shop prep time.
A. Middle Atlantic BRK28-22 Laminate Cabinets (Item No. 9) - Please refer to the attached “1sound” photo.
One (1) Gator G Tour 10x12 PU Rolling Rack (Item No. 11). – Please refer to the attached “2sound” photo.
4. Q. Item No. 13 Allen and Heath AH-SQ-5-RK19 specifies a pair of rack mounts for the mixer specified. The dimension of these devices are
53.00mm (approximately 2 Inches) x 532.60mm (approximately 21 Inches) x 50.10mm (approximately 2 Inches). This would appear to require twelve (12) Rack Unit of space to mount the mixer. The rolling rack case pop up mixer mount is indicated at ten (10) Rack Units. Please verify the model number for the rolling rack indicated in Item No 11 in the event the mixer is to be installed on top.
A. I do not know the model number unfortunately. The requested sound console is an Allen and Heath model – so we just need a rolling rack compatible for it to live in and roll around capability. The Allen and Heath sound console should have 48 channels.
5. Q. A mixer with up to forty-eight (48) channels is specified. Sixteen (16) Wireless Microphone Systems are specified. Please clarify if any additional inputs are expected to be connected to the new equipment.
A. There should be a D-Snake option where the wireless racks live, which can house additional already in house microphones.

6. Q. While the Scope of Services indicates a new sound system, the components specified appear to indicate an expansion of an existing system to support additional wireless microphones with mixer control as Amplifiers, Equalizers, Processors and other components associated with a complete sound system are not indicated. The Speakers are identified as existing. Please verify the output of this Mixer/Audio Rack is to connect to an existing system with line level inputs available for the connection. In addition, as calibration is indicated in the system design, please provide “As Built” information of the existing system in order to determine speaker settings.
A. “As Built” information would have to be provided by VCS facilities department from Archives. Much of the installed hardware is original to the school.
