About this file
The document is a comprehensive Q3 2024 advertising effectiveness study conducted by Future Partners for Visit St. Pete-Clearwater (VSPC) and its agency partner BVK, focusing on the destination's marketing performance. The research surveyed 4,200 respondents across 14 key markets, including Atlanta, Chicago, Cincinnati, Detroit, and others, to evaluate the impact of their advertising campaigns. The study examined ad recall, campaign perception, traveler demographics, trip details, and travel behavior, with key objectives including measuring incremental visits generated by advertising, determining ad reach and impact, and understanding media consumption among target audiences.
The research revealed that over one-third of target travelers (33%) recalled seeing VSPC advertisements, with travelers most likely to use friends/family (61%), online searches (50%), and social media (38%) for travel inspiration. The average travel party size was 3.1 people, with visitors spending approximately $699 per day, primarily on lodging ($161) and dining ($153). Most visitors were couples, with 64% traveling with a spouse or significant other, and 51% staying in hotels. The study also found that the advertisements effectively conveyed key destination attributes, with 88% of travelers agreeing the destination has an "uplifting vibe" and 86% believing it offers "world class beaches".

Table of Contents
Research Overview and Objectives
Visit St. Pete-Clearwater (VSPC), along with its agency-partner BVK, sought to develop a more comprehensive understanding of efficacy of its advertising and evaluate the contribution/impact of the advertising to local tourism.
In order to achieve these objectives, Future Partners conducted a research study to provide critical insights into travelers. Additional objectives addressed by the research included:
• Measure the incremental visits generated by the advertising, including the direct visitor spending (and tax revenues) generated as a direct result of these visits
• Determine the reach and impact of the advertising by examining awareness and likelihood to visit by market
• Drive future campaign strategy by comparing the effectiveness of the various media channels and ad effectiveness across markets
• Understand detailed media consumption behavior among target audiences
Methodology and Sampling
Future Partners worked closely with Visit St. Pete-Clearwater and its agency BVK to develop an online survey questionnaire that addressed the research objectives.
