About this file
This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for vegetation clearing, tree trimming, and fence-line cleanup services at the USDA Agricultural Research Service's Coastal Plains Soil, Water, and Plant Research Center located at 2611 West Lucas Street, Florence, SC 29501.
The contractor must provide comprehensive vegetation management services including removal of overgrown vegetation, brush, small trees, weeds, and invasive plants; mowing remaining grass to uniform height; removal of vines and vegetation entangled in the perimeter fence; trimming of low-hanging branches and limbs encroaching on buildings, walkways, or equipment areas; and collection and disposal of all debris in accordance with local environmental regulations. Critical requirements include protecting riprap located underneath brush from disturbance, ensuring no damage to nearby structures and utility poles, and creating a uniform two-foot buffer clearance corridor along the entire fence line by trimming trees vertically to full height and horizontally at least two feet beyond the outside of the existing fence line. The contractor must document existing fence damage caused by vegetation in the completion report and ensure all trimmed material is removed from the site.
Deliverables include a fully cleared site free of unmanaged vegetation and debris, fence lines cleared of vines with documented condition, completion of tree trimming per scope, a completion report with before-and-after photos, and confirmation of proper off-site disposal. The project is a one-time engagement with no recurring service component. The contractor must comply with USDA ARS safety protocols, federal environmental regulations, and standard industry safety practices, with all personnel wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Contractor responsibilities end upon completion of the scope of work and submission of all deliverables, with any future vegetation management handled under separate agreements.
