Lake Mead National Recreation Area
Summary of Work
Consolidation Point Communications Site
Description:
The work involved in this project is for the design and installation of a Land Mobile Radio Communications at the existing Consolidation Point Communications Site located in the Callville Bay area of Lake Mead NRA. The site requires a new equipment shelter, 40ft tall free-standing tower, Photovoltaic Power System with battery storage capacity as well as a Motorola R56 compliant grounding system and is described as follows:
1. Review site layout requirements based upon needed site configuration and provide as-built drawings showing layout of the tower, shelter, grounding system and the Photovoltaic Power System and associated accessories.
2. Provide and install an 8ft x 10ft pre-fabricated communications shelter with an interior grounding system, DC power distribution, two 7ft tall equipment racks, DC lighting and an air conditioning system compatible with the loading requirements of the Photovoltaic Power System and set to operate in day light hours only as well as storage space for the PV Battery System. Shelter shall be designed to accommodate one 8 port cable entry positioned on the sided of the shelter towards the tower. Shelter shall have an egress door with a deadbolt locking system. Shelter shall also include an alarm system capable of monitoring the entry door as well as air temperature and a smoke alarm.
3. Provide and install a 40ft tall self-supporting tower including the required concrete foundation based upon normal soil conditions design for the geographic area. Tower is to have a minimum leg spread of 4ft at the base and 2.5ft at the top of tower. Tower is to include a lightning rod at the top and an OSHA approved safety climb device.
Concrete foundation to have the minimum concrete breaking strength as determined by the tower manufactures specifications.
4. Provide and install an ice bridge between the tower and equipment shelter for cable management.
5. Provide and install a Motorola R56 compliant grounding system with a 5ohm resistance value but not to exceed 25ohms. Grounding system shall interconnect the tower, ice bridge, equipment shelter, power systems and all other accessories.
6. Design and install a Photovoltaic Power System with a minimum of 2KW capacity that has had the design loading verified against the proposed site equipment needs. Power System to contain a battery storage system that is capable of a 24hour minimum run time and will incorporate the existing 20KW LP generator located on site.
7. Provide and install a concrete pad capable of supporting a 500Gal LP Fuel Tank.
8. Provide and install a new LP Fuel Line from the location of the LP Fuel Tank pad to the existing 20KW Generator.
9. Provide and install two new Land Mobile Radio VHF Antennas and antenna cables for the existing radio base stations.
10. Relocate the existing Land Mobile Radio base stations from the existing shelter into the new shelter.
11. Relocate the existing Microwave Radio equipment and antennas from the existing shelter/tower to the new shelter/tower configuration providing new outdoor rated ethernet cabling for use on the new tower and install to Motorola R56 and manufacturer standards. Perform Microwave Antenna alignment with the antennas located at the Boulder City Communications Shelter, Relay Point Radio Site, Boulder Beach Ranger Station Communications Tower and Callville Bay Point to Multi Point network.
12. Demolish the two existing 20ft communications towers and foundations. Foundations to be demolished to two feet below grade at a minimum.
13. Remove and dispose of all site debris to include the old towers, equipment shelter, original solar panel system and all associated materials.
Option 1: Provide and install a 6ft tall chain-link perimeter fence with three strands of barbed wire and a double swing vehicle gate Fence to encompass the tower, shelter, power system, generator and LP Tank. Fence to be tied into the new grounding system per Motorola R56 requirements.
Potential Condition of Site: Provide equipment necessary, such as a bull dozer, to assist in equipment ingress to the site along the existing access road if road conditions require at time of contract performance.
