About this file

This document contains questions and answers regarding a solar design project at Consolidation Point in Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The project involves designing and installing a 2KW photovoltaic power system to operate a 48V DC power plant, with conversion equipment to output at 12V and 24V DC. The system must be capable of running HVAC equipment from 10am to 8pm to maintain an interior shelter temperature of 75 degrees. The battery storage area must support 24/7 operation of radio and network equipment as well as daily HVAC loads during summer months. Other requirements include installing VHF antennas on a new tower at a height of 30 feet with 1/2 inch feed line, and mounting standard 2 foot parabolic dishes. The project site and access road are owned by the federal government. Permitting and inspections will need to be verified with Clark County, Nevada. The performance period may be extended from 90 to 150 days due to supply chain delays.

Please see questions below regarding the Solar design. Thank you.

• What is the nominal system voltage? 48V

• What is the total design load in kWh/day? Load calcs to be performed/verified by contractor in designing the system

• What is the design risk category? Cat 2

• What is the max wind load required for the PV array? To be verified by the contractor and based upon their proposed design and wind loads/speeds in the area of the site.

• Is rapid shutdown of the solar array required? No

• What version of the NEC is currently being utilized for permitting purposes? Expected to be the

2020 version but to be verified by the contractor

See below questions for S#140P8121R0003:

• We assume that there is no AC power or grid power? Is there an inverter from the gen set source? Yes, the Gen Set connects directly to the battery bank.

• Please provide definition and specs on DC Power distribution, voltage and loads. Overall system is to be 48vdc with conversion equipment to step down to both 12vdc and 24vdc outputs.

• Please provide definition and specs for Photovoltaic Power System requirements. System to be designed by the contractor and based upon loads including the HVAC system. A minimum system size of 2KW

• Is the HVAC system based on a DC power source, what internal and ambient loads? Is the solar system/storage system capable of running the AC all day if required? HVAC is to be ran from the DC power plant. System to be configured to operate during peak heating hours of 10am to 8pm and set for an internal shelter temperature of 75degrees

• Please provide a floor loading requirement for the battery storage area. To be calculated based upon battery storage needs for a 24/7 operation of all radio and network equipment and daily running loads of the HVAC system in the summer months.

• Please provide liquidated damages information. No liquidated damages included in the contract

• Can the project duration be extended from 90 days to 150 days? Lead times for items required cannot meet the current duration. Radio program doesn't have an issue extending the contract period.

• Please provide the frequency for the 3 dishes? 4980Mhz, 5170Mhz and 4925Mhz

• What is the line size running to each dish? Each dish with it's outdoor unit is ran off of a single outdoor rated ethernet cable and they are all POE types

• Is a safety climb kit required for the tower? Yes

• What is the part number on the 2 ea. VHF antennas going on the new tower along with mounting height and line sizes? ANT150F2 mounted at roughly 30ft agl with 1/2 diameter feed line.

• Are the 2 other dishes mentioned also high performance? The other 2 dishes are standard parabolic roughly 2ft dia.

• Please provide tower classification class. Class II

• Please provide information on what permitting and inspections will be required for this project.

To be verified with Clark County Nevada.

• Is the project site owned by the federal government? Yes

• Is the access road/ route to the property owned by the federal government? Yes
