About this file

This is a detail sheet document from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation Highway Division for Proposal No. 613163-135786, outlining construction specifications for rail trail development from Ford Avenue to the Peabody City Line in Lynnfield. The project encompasses extensive site preparation and paving work, including 4,000 cubic yards of earth excavation, 5,550 cubic yards of gravel borrow, 1,660 cubic yards of loam for roadsides, and various rock excavation categories totaling 145 cubic yards. Pavement construction includes 12,811 square yards of full depth trail pavement with superpave surface and intermediate courses and an 8-inch minimum gravel base, 158 square yards of full depth roadway pavement, 184 square yards of cement concrete sidewalks, 88 square yards of pedestrian curb ramp sections, and 60 square yards of stabilized stonedust areas. The scope of work addresses site clearing and grubbing, installation of granite curbing in straight and curved configurations at multiple stations with specific locations identified, removal and replacement of fencing, drainage infrastructure adjustments, traffic control measures including temporary impact attenuators and pavement markings, sign installation and relocation, and wetland mitigation involving tree removal and replacement activities. The project requires disposal of treated wood products including wooden railroad ties and timber retaining walls.

The project carries a total estimated value of $4.894 million with price adjustment provisions for hot mix asphalt, Portland cement, diesel fuel, gasoline, and structural and reinforcing steel as specified by MassDOT. A proposal guaranty equal to 5 percent of the bid value is mandatory. Bidders must be pre-qualified by MassDOT in the HIGHWAY - BIKE PATHS category prior to submission and must obtain valid MassDOT vendor codes and Digital IDs from www.bidx.com at least 14 days before bid opening.
