About this file
This is a product specification document for Mersen A4BY Class L power fuses applicable to the Pinellas County School District's Theater Lighting Renovations project in Florida. The A4BY fuses are UL/CSA-listed devices designed for protecting service entrance equipment, feeder circuits, and circuit breakers in applications including mains, feeders, load centers, panelboards, switchboards, and metering centers. The fuses are available in ampere ratings ranging from 200 to 6000A for AC applications (200 to 2500A for DC), with voltage ratings of 600VAC and 300VDC. The A4BY fuses feature a 4-second minimum time delay at 500% rating, current limiting capability, and a high interrupting rating of 200kA for AC and 100kA for DC. These devices are 100% rated and may be applied at continuous currents up to their ampere rating, allowing them to pass normal current surges and coordinate with ground fault relays.
The specification document provides detailed catalog numbers for fuses in amperage ranges from 200-800A through 4001-6000A, along with comprehensive dimensional data in both inches and millimeters for proper installation. Recommended fuse blocks for Class L fuses are identified, with catalog number P48F designated as UL recognized for ratings of 100-800A at 600V or less in 3-pole configurations, and catalog number P412F self-certified for 801-1200A ratings. The document notes that Class L fuses are dimensioned for one-way interchangeability, allowing substitution of lower ampere rating fuses for higher ones. Optional blown fuse trigger indicators are available upon request by adding "-TI" to the part number. The fuses comply with UL standard 248-10 and CSA standard C22.2 No. 248.10 for ratings from 601-6000A.

UL/CSA L ISTED POWER FUSES
COUNT ON THE HIGH INTERRUPTING RATING
OF OUR MOST WIDELY USED CLASS L FUSE
When it comes to protecting service entrance equipment, feeder circuits, and circuit breakers, A4BY fuses are the industry’s favorite.
The A4BY is a 100% rated device and may be applied at continuous currents up to its ampere rating. A 4-second minimum time delay at 500% rating allows the A4BY to pass normal current surges and to coordinate with ground fault relays.
