Project Name: Belcourt Replace Dry Coolers Design-Build
Project Location: Quentin N. Burdick Memorial Health Care Facility Belcourt, ND
IHS Project No: GP21TM203H6
SOW REV 1
10/21/2022
1. Project Description
The contractor shall furnish all labor, equipment, materials, and testing for the design and construction of new dry coolers. The new dry coolers will be designed to be placed on the rooftop of the Quentin N Burdick Hospital located in Belcourt, ND.
2. Background: The dry coolers were previously located on the rooftop. In the past, the dry coolers were moved off the roof and located on the ground on the west side of the facility. The current dry coolers have issues collecting dirt and other air-born debris. Recently, difficulties maintaining humidity levels inside the hospital operating room, have led the facility to use water sprinklers to temporarily increase the cooling capacity of the dry coolers. As a result of the sustained use of water sprinklers, the radiator fins have accumulated a calcium build up that reduces the overall efficiency of the dry coolers. The facility needs to replace the existing dry coolers and move them to the facility rooftop. New dry coolers will help prevent operating room shut downs and prevent debris build up inside the dry coolers. The steel structure, which previously supported rooftop dry coolers, remains on the rooftop. The design should take the existing structure into consideration for use with the new dry coolers.
