About this file
This Addendum 1 document, issued January 5, 2021, modifies the original bidding documents for the DNR Multi-Division Storage Facility project (Project Number 519251, DTMB File No. 751/19239RWG) located in Gaylord, Michigan. The addendum introduces a modification requiring bidders to supply and install a chain-link security fence with barbed wire topping at a new equipment bullpen location, including removal of existing fencing. The fence work comprises approximately 300 feet by 300 feet of six-foot-high chain-link fencing with three strands of barbed wire angled inward, two 30-foot wide swing-style double gates with 180-degree hinges, drop bolts, and socket stops. Site preparation work includes grading, compacting subgrade, smoothing and filling low spots with excavated materials, and capping the approximately 330-foot by 330-foot pad with six inches of compacted 23A limestone. The bid date was January 12, 2021. The fenced bullpen must be completed prior to commencement of storage building construction. The addendum includes an RFI Log documenting six clarification requests received between December 13, 2021, and January 5, 2022, addressing topics including missing structural plans, project inspection authority, handrail installation methodology, and insulation R-factor specifications.
The specifications require chain-link fence fabric complying with ASTM A392, zinc-coated steel barbed wire per ASTM A121, and galvanized steel posts and components per ASTM A123/A123M and ASTM A153/A153M standards. Posts include 1.9-inch diameter line posts, 2.38-inch corner and terminal posts, and 3.5-inch gate posts, with 2-inch diamond mesh fabric of 6 gauge thickness. Concrete footings must achieve 2,500 psi strength at 28 days, and fabric installation must not commence until concrete has cured for 28 days. The contractor is responsible for all labor, materials, and equipment necessary for site preparation and fence installation. Acceptable manufacturers include Master-Halco, Inc. and Merchants Metals. The document specifies field inspection and quality control requirements, including verification of post settings, fence height, barbed wire spacing and quantity, gate alignment and function, and overall workmanship standards per CLFMI CLF-FIG0111 guidance. A five-year warranty is required for framework and fabric, with correction of defective work required within five years after substantial completion.

Addendum Number: 1
Date: 1.5.21
Project Name: DNR Multi-Division Storage Facility
SG Project Number: 519251 DTMB File No.: 751/19239RWG
Bid Date: 1.12.21
This Addendum is being issued for the purpose of clarifying and/or modifying the original Bidding Documents and shall take precedence over them. Each Bidder’s proposal shall include the Work described herein. All requirements contained in the Contract Documents shall apply to this Addendum. All incidental work necessary to complete the Work shall be included in the Contractor’s quotation even though not particularly mentioned. Parts of the Specifications and Drawings referred to herein supersede previously issued data and form a part of this Addendum.
CLARIFICATIONS:
1. Refer to attached RFI Log.
MODIFICATIONS:
1. Include cost to supply and install a chain-link fence with gates and topped with (3) strands of barbed wire for the purpose of securing the new Bullpen location and associated site work as indicated below. Work shall include the removal of the fencing surrounding the existing bullpen.
ATTACHMENTS:
The following documents are a part of this Addendum:
1. RFI Log.
2. Specification Division 31-3113, Chain Link Fences and Gates.
3. Plan Sheet C-200A, indicating the location of the proposed Bullpen.
STATEMENT OF WORK: GAYLORD EQUIPMENT BULLPEN FENCING
Generally, the project consists of all labor, materials & equipment to prepare the site and install a six-foot high chain-link fence with three strands of barbed wire at the top of fence angled in (typical security fence). The area to be fenced is approximately 300’ x 300’ with two 30’ wide swing style double gates and 180 degree hinges. A drop bolt to be installed on the stationary panel with socket stop set in concrete. See attached site plan and specifications.
Timing: The new fenced bullpen is to be completed prior to the commencement of the storage building construction
Site preparation consists of grading, compacting subgrade, smoothing and filling low spots with excavated materials from the existing bullpen site so water drains off the pad approximately 330’ x 330’ and capping the area with 6” of compacted 23A limestone (Afton Stone). The pad is to be smooth and may follow the contours of the land, to be verified in the field by the Owner
The Owner will prepare the site by removing stumps, debris, brush and vegetation, etc. The area for the fence installation will be smooth however there will be changes in grade across the area.

The specs say to look at the drawings for the R Factor on insulation, but the only one that shows is the heated area walls that are 6" faced, it does not give an R Factor for the roof of the heated areas and the roof of the rest of the building. Please clarify if it is a liner system or just faced one layer.
