About this file

This Request for Information (RFI) is issued by the United States Coast Guard (USCG) on 12 November 2025 to conduct market research for a future Border Security Boat – Shallow Water River acquisition. The RFI seeks industry input on a shore-based boat designed for Law Enforcement operations, specifically Drug Interdiction (DI) and Migrant Interdiction (MI). The USCG is gathering information about potential boat designs, production capabilities, delivery timelines, and contract support, with specific questions covering boat specifications, production capacity, innovative features, warranty terms, and company details.

Key research areas include determining if vendors have existing craft that meet preliminary requirements, can modify designs, add safety features like cable bars and protective coverings, and deliver operational test boats within one month. The USCG is interested in understanding vendors' capabilities to build and deliver up to 2 boats per month, complete a 25-boat fleet within one year, and provide lifecycle logistics support. Responses are voluntary and should be submitted to William.E.Lewis3@uscg.mil, with the RFI explicitly stating this is market research only and not a formal solicitation or contract commitment.
