The document (CHS-SEM-005) was issued and revised on 01/20/2009.
The SOP outlines specific procedures for two FLETC facilities: the Federal Complex in North Charleston and the Charleston Naval Weapons Station (NWS) in Goose Creek. Key requirements include: weapons must be cleared at designated stations, control cards must be issued by the Visitor Control Center, and strict protocols must be followed for weapon storage and ammunition handling. The document details specific entry procedures through checkpoints, building access requirements, and operating hours (6:00 am to 7:00 pm Monday through Friday for the armory). The Security Specialist is responsible for issuing weapons control cards and oversight of weapons processes, while the Deputy Assistant Director oversees facility management. Form FTC-SEM-15 (03/07) Weapons Registration Form is required for processing. This SOP is marked as FOR OFFICIAL USE ONLY (FOUO) and applies to all permanent and detailed staff of Partner Organizations who are properly credentialed to carry agency-issued firearms.
