About this file
This specification document outlines the technical requirements for a bituminous pressure distributor truck rental issued by Salt Lake County Public Works Operations Division in Utah. The County seeks to rent a bituminous pressure distributor for a seven-month period beginning April 1, 2026, weather dependent, with the initial truck required to be a 2025 model year or newer and subsequent rental years utilizing the same truck unless County-approved substitution occurs. The rental equipment must meet comprehensive specifications covering the truck, tank, insulation, safety features, gauges, valves, hose storage, and distributor functions to ensure proper application of bituminous materials.
The truck specifications require a 2025 model year or newer automatic transmission vehicle with custom interior trim, air conditioning, and a 50-degree turning radius. The tank must have a minimum capacity of 2,000 gallons constructed of grade "A" steel with baffles and comply with all Federal and State regulations. Additional requirements include aluminum-jacketed insulation, rear-mounted ladder with gripstrut catwalk, float-type gauge with 50-gallon increment scale, sampling valve, automatic cut-off valve, and hose storage trays. The distributor must be capable of accurately applying all bituminous material types and performing multiple functions including load, circulate, spray at constant application rates regardless of truck speed variance, return material to tank, and transfer material between outside sources. The County will provide the nozzle tip size at no additional charge to the contractor.
