About this file
SLCC Wayfinding Implementation Phase - Specifications Summary
This document is a comprehensive specification manual for the Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) Wayfinding Implementation Phase project located at four Utah campuses: Taylorsville Redwood Campus, South City Campus, West Valley Center, and Jordan Campus. The project encompasses exterior signage at three sites and interior signage in four buildings, including removal of existing signage and installation of new wayfinding systems with structural and electrical design details. The specification manual includes detailed sections on procurement requirements, general construction standards, concrete work, signage types (panel signs, post-and-panel signs, pylon signs, and painted signage), site clearing, landscaping, irrigation systems, and soil preparation. Key construction specifications address temporary facilities, tree protection, quality requirements, submittal procedures, and closeout requirements. The project involves cast-in-place concrete foundations, architectural concrete finishes, joint sealants, and comprehensive landscape improvements including planting irrigation and soil preparation across multiple campus locations.
The project specifications establish detailed performance requirements for all construction elements, including structural design loads for signage, thermal movement allowances, and accessibility compliance with ADA standards. Material requirements specify high-quality products such as aluminum sheet, stainless steel, acrylic, and specialized coatings with specific finish standards including anodized aluminum and baked-enamel finishes. The specifications mandate testing and inspection by qualified agencies, preconstruction conferences, field quality control protocols, and a 12-month warranty period for plant materials and specialized warranties for signage components extending five years from Substantial Completion. Contractor qualifications require ACI certifications for concrete work, manufacturer-approved installers for specialized signage, and landscape professionals with minimum five years' experience. The document establishes comprehensive documentation requirements including shop drawings, product data, samples, coordination drawings, and record documents, with electronic submittals required through web-based project management software (Newforma Information Exchange).
