About this file
This document contains questions and answers from a pre-bid meeting for a federal highway construction project. The project involves repaving approximately 2.5 miles of roadway in Imperial County, California, which will include pulverizing the existing pavement for reuse as base material prior to paving. Construction must be phased and traffic controlled to minimize disruptions to recreation area visitors throughout construction. The project duration is from December 2020 to April 2021. Key details include confirmation that a field office but no housing is required; water can be obtained from nearby sources with Bureau of Reclamation coordination; subexcavation quantities are estimated but may not be needed; asphalt mix designs must meet Caltrans specifications; and only one road can be closed at a time to traffic with the other left open.
