Set One - Questions and Answers (Q & A) Question1) If you want a vapor barrier, do you want it on the deck or on the substrate board?

Memphis is in ASHRAE/DOE Climate Zone 3, but we highly recommend a vapor barrier with any concrete decks.

Response 1) No vapor barrier is needed on this project. The roof deck is a 1-1/2” 22 gauge metal roof deck.

Question 2) The plans state the cover board to be 5/8" in the plans, but in the concrete detail A003 #5 it states 1/2". Which thickness cover board is needed for both the steel deck and concrete deck?

Response 2) The 5/8” thick Dens Deck is for the substrate (Section 07 54 30 2.4B) and protection layer (Section 07 54 30 2.7C2)

Question 3) The concrete decks will need to be an adhered system, due to the difficulty to fasten into concrete.

Response 3) Not applicable to this project as the answered in Question 1

Question 4) I have listed a 90 mph wind speed based on the statement made in Spec Section 2.1 D. Is this what you are wanting in the warranty?

Response 4) That applied to the materials and the windspeed design, please see Spec Section 07 54 30 Section 1.12 A. The remainder of that section is for installer warranty.

Question 5) Which FM Rating are you looking for?

Specs call for an FM 135 and the plans state a FM 195 Response 5) Follow 07 54 30 Section 2.1 C1

Question 6) What is the existing deck?

The specs state a steel and concrete deck, but the plans did not make any notes in regards to the deck types.

Response 6) The existing deck is 1-1/2” 22 gauge metal.

Question 7) Are you wanting the Manufacturer's standard wind speed warranty verbiage or are you looking for uplift? Contractors typically do not provide engineering stamp approvals, and manufacturers do not warrant uplift pressures. Do you have the wind speed you want everyone to bid on this project?

Per Spec Section 1.12 bullet 3 Response 7) Please see Specification 07 54 30 Section 1.12 A3 for warranty by Manufacture.

Set Two - Questions and Answers (Q & A)

Question 1) Is the slope in the metal roof deck or is tapered insulation required to achieve the ¼” minimum slope?

Response 1) The metal roof deck is installed level with the structure any sloping for drainage will have to be accomplished by tapered insulation Specification Section 07 54 30 2.6 Roof Insulation.

Question 2) Gauge of metal roof deck?

Response 2) The roof is 1-1/2” 22 gauge metal.
