Question 1) Detail A on sheet M246 Shows Supply ductwork to the new AHU-4, however the drawing do not show supply air. Please confirm if SA is required for this project.
Response 1) The above ceiling ductwork depicted for the typical AHU section on M246 is the fresh air supply above the return air plenum. See picture below:
I believe the question being asked is if the fresh air supply duct is to be replaced or reworked. The answer is no the fresh air supply duct does not need to be replaced or reworked if the return air plenum that goes above the T-Bar ceiling is installed with in 2 inches of the duct per the drawing above. RA Plenum height should be coordinated with fresh air return duct. Fresh air return duct may need to be reworked for new AHU if it does not fit or work with new Return Air Plenum, field verify when ordering new unit with return air plenum. On M242 AHU Note 6 states: “Provide with Factory Lined return Air Plenum Mounted on top of the unit. Return Air Plenum to be provided with standard and optional side grilles. Paint to match.”
Question 2) Sheet M244 calls for new ISO valves. However, sizing is not provided for HHW valves. Please confirm of the new valves.
Response 2) The existing hot water piping is depicted as 1 inch. See drawing M243. The isolation valves for hot water piping generally match pipe size being 1 inch, contractor to field verify. General note 3 on M244 states: “Physical sizes and locations of equipment and associated piping are approximate, verify sizes and dimensions affecting work.” This means contractor to field verify the size, also see General Note E and I on M242.
Question 3) Detail #4 on 246 calls for new CD drains from AHUs. However, sheet M244 does not show the CD routing and size. Please confirm where CD drains will be routing to and provide update plans if possible.
Response 3) New AHU Units are different from existing AHU Unit. Per Detail 4/M246 contractor shall connect condensate drain to existing condensate drain line. General note 3 on M244 states: “Physical sizes and locations of equipment and associated piping are approximate, verify sizes and dimensions affecting work.” This means contractor to field verify the location, placement and tie in point that make sense for condensate drain, also see General Note E on I on M242. Detail 3/M246 specifies the condensate drain detail that needs to come off the new AHU before it is connected to the existing condensate drain. Coordinate with COR the placement and connection point of the new condensate drain with the existing condensate drain.
